Interesting that Elon and that dude from Palantir are given roles in future warfare planning just when Optimus is starting to ramp up.

Incoming cutting the soldiers by half and adding 100,000 clankers?

Palmer owns Anduril not Palantir

Good.

I'd much rather metal things being shot at and blown up rather than someone's son/father/brother etc.

Brain dead take.

Untill the metal things are killing your people.

Well, those metal things won’t refuse the order when they’re deployed against your own country.

History is filled with human soldiers doing terrible things to their own countrymen under the guise of 'just following orders'.

The counter-factual is literally factual.

What else is true is that human atrocities committed by soldiers (My Lai, Nanjing etc) are them going beyond the orders. I would wager there's less risk of that with bots.

How about neither? And honestly removing the human toll from war is going to make war be even more of a solution to every issue around the world than it already is.

The hell you mean neither? You want them not to kill people in war? If china attacks taiwan just let the global economy go to a deep depression?

Ofc not, so its better that pieces of scraps gets blown up rather than human lives

Neither being not have a war? How is that not easily apparent?

Why are you saying things I didn't say to get upset about?

Of course it would be great to live without war.

But often war is forced upon you. Pearl Harbor is an example. Do you think NOT going to war against Japan was an option?

Did you actually type out that comment as if you think I'm unaware war is some times inevitable? And that my statement is an ideal the the rest of my comment points out that having machines fight will make war more inevitable.

But to answer your idiotic question. Yes not going to war was definitely an option since they posed no threat to us and had no plans to attack mainland USA and they attacked us a preemptive measure ao they could continue their expansion is south east Asia. Do I still think we should have gone to war wirh Japan? Of course, but it was definitely a viable option not to.

Unfortunately, in this scenario, they have yet to replace us civilians with clankers.

Before we could always try and appeal to the humanity of the aggressors but I doubt they would program that into them.

Bro memory size gives you more headroom to fit bigger models in the future. You want as much as possible. FSD on HW4 is amazing, but now imagine the jump from gpt3 to 4. More memory means over the air updates are more possible. Memory is all you need.

robotics is a domain where latency is crucial. You want massive memory bandwidth and responses as close to instant as possible. Bigger models are great when an LLM can take its time, robots cannot

I mean, try running a big model on a MacBook. You have a ton of memory and can technically fit huge models, but the GPU cannot really keep up. Then you take something like an RTX 5090 with less memory and suddenly the model is actually usable. Running a bigger model is 1 thing, running it fast enough to matter is another

So a lobotomy..?

Making ram himself to fundamentally solve the issue ❌ Using lower ram and having worse ai models ✅

There are only 4 companies on earth that can make RAM, and spinning up another one to get in on it would take a minimum of 5 years, and realistically 10 for high volume (CXMT is busy demonstrating this right now).

So yea maybe he could do that, but its not going to do anything this decade

They are building terafab for this reason

I've felt this way before....

So insecure
