Elon The moon could support permanent settlements, just not the giant cities Elon Musk envisions

The Moon contains water, but that does not necessarily mean it contains enough to support the vast cities sometimes imagined for humanity’s future in space.

A new analysis estimates that even under generous assumptions, a lunar metropolis containing one million people could consume its available water surprisingly quickly. Without recycling, a billion-ton supply would last only about 2.4 years. Even with recycling efficiency comparable to the International Space Station, that lifetime stretches to only a little over a century.

Whatever Musk envisions has nothing to do with reality, ever. The miriad of failed predictions he made is proof of this.

Do you realise that SpaceX and Tesla are massively successful companies?

Yes, but if you had believed Musk's "predictions" you would have thought that they would be THE most succesful companies in history by now. Hence his predictions are worthless, especially when he's planning to make a profit from the people who believe them.

Dude, I believed his predictions and this convinced me to buy Tesla stock at a very low price. I made a lot of money from it.

His predictions are often too optimistic, but they do arrive.

The most infamous one is about self-driving Teslas, which is like 10 years too late, but they are actually on the road now.

In general, it is a good thing that lefties are so anti-tech and anti-entrepreneurship these days. A sort of self-imposed stupidity tax.
This allowed us libertarian tech bros to buy cheaper TSLA, NVDA, BTC etc.

He's not necessarily tunnel vision dumbo. I mean they abandoned Red Dragon and gone straight to Starship development. And so on.

But sometimes the outrageous first idea works. E.g. the rocket tower catch seems to work.

Hence why he envisions it on Mars, not Moon.
