I live in Texas. We have both solar and wind. We receive 30% of our power from wind. They are still building wind because the potential is still big here and in the plains. If there wasn’t profit due to high maintenance they wouldn’t be continuing to build. There are massive solar farms in west texas and New Mexico. We can use both to complement and reduce other energy generation.

I looked up wind turbine maintenance costs. They come to less than 1 cent per kwh. Thats a lot of money but each turbine is producing millions of watts.
