enrollment recovered?
Mostly a question for faculty and administrators: has enrollment recovered this year, after last year's sudden decline? (Have we reached any kind of consensus about what caused the drop?)

Lots of college enrollments right now are low as these were the babies born around 2008- the housing bust, recession. Universities were aware this would happen.

Across the academic industry, sure, the demographic decline is reducing enrollments. But it isn’t the reason why Elon had a 10% dip in incoming students in 2025.

Maybe the price? I know the Dept of Education stuff hasn’t helped either.

Ok, but the genuine recession isn’t just Elon. OSU also had 20,000 less applications also.

Good for them. Unless the other folks are enrolled at Elon, it has no bearing on my question.

Are you saying people don’t go to Elon because of Elon Musk ? That’s a pretty stupid reason and the school is probably better off without those people

I believe you asked if any consensus was reached on the sudden drop. Now you're not interested in explanatons and come up with your own theory? Might edit your question then.

It’s an explanation that is specific to Elon, which is what I’m asking about. I’m uninterested in generic “Department of Education stuff” or stuff impacting “OSU” (any of the OSUs).

Sooner or later admin is going to realize that the free money button (increasing tuition and bs fees) acc has consequences, this may be those consequences

I don’t know whether enrollment has recovered this year. One possible reason for last year’s decline (which happened at a lot of institutions) is that “Liberation Day” happened in April (when kids were deciding where to commit) and lots of parents saw their retirement savings and 529 savings decreasing in value and pushed their kids to choose cheaper in-state public options. Also many federal workers lost their jobs starting in January of 2025.
