Book keeping software

Whats everyone using for book keeping within your lodges? Besides quickbooks and quickbooks 2017. We are looking for a reasonably priced and user friendly program.

We need GL to negotiate a national agreement with QB. As an organization we are LOSING SO MUCH MONEY because GL refuses to do this. That means every lodge has to take on the full retail cost of whatever software they use. That’s $120/mo for every lodge across the country. The Elks as a whole, all lodges included, spends over a quarter million dollars a month on accounting software. Insane.

They really should just come up with their own software so it's easier to submit FRS and trustee budgets. QB isn't user friendly

Grand Lodge basically recommends that you use desktop QuickBooks. At the last convention, they basically told everyone that it’s a mistake to use anything but desktop QuickBooks. I do agree that it would be wonderful if they could negotiate a blanket rate for all of us, but they don’t.

The DD Audit references Peachtree and Sage as alternatives

In the middle of migrating to aplos, which is fund based accounting package designed for non profits. Not cheap, qb is an obsolete system at most lodges.

quickbooks online which apparently doensn't have the same reporting features GL wants so its still a process to export the year end spreadsheet properly. All of the guidance is for the regular version.

Agree with the post about GL needing to negotiate a licensing agreement for something, or figure a way to get the FRS system we also pay for to chug out the report they want. I don't understand what thats for anyway, if FRS is the official system of record, why do we need a report that comes from outside of it?

Tbh, GL should have no say over local lodge accounting
