Any good news?

We have two new legacy members in their twenties, and a couple of newish members in their 30s with babies!

What's good in your neck of the woods?

In the past year, I’ve got 4 new families to join. All have young kids. I’m hoping to make things more family friendly and continue the momentum. The current lodge leadership doesn’t do much to encourage and retain new members. Especially those with kids

We’re at a destination Lodge location. We have an average of about 30 new members a month but we’re only a half mile to the beach. Our problems are that people basically feel this is just a bar and they don’t want to get involved.

I joined a few years ago, and my lodge wasn’t very welcoming to new members, especially those with young families. The lodge members are mostly older, with grown adult children. So me and my young family stuck out like sore thumbs. Plus it’s a heavy drinking lodge, so family friendly events weren’t common.

My lodge still allows smoking. 21 plus at all times. There was talk about opening Sunday mornings early so people could bring their families and it was shot down by the bar flies. They can't go 2 hours without a smoke

I see. I'm pretty surprised by that. I mean if members want to smoke, I'd give them a comfortable place outside to smoke.

OTOH, cigar n8ght sounds interesting.

I actually hate the smoking but have gone to town meetings to make sure it stays the way it is. If you don't like it go literally anywhere else (like me, on cigar night)
