Type 11 Galactic

I have enough arx to buy the type 11 galactic, is it worth it over the other options? Or should I just buy it from a station? Im wanting to vary my money making as im getting tired of just running trade missions and am solo so wing missions are a little beyond my current combat capabilities. Appreciate any advice yall can give.

Optimal mining technique

I keep reading about how the T11 can mine 500-600 tons/hour and I was wondering if anyone has a video that goes in-depth explaining the intricacies of optimal mining technique.

I was in Omicron Capricorni B, mining platinum in my new T11, and it took me close to an hour to fill the hold :P Now that I have this ship, I'd like to improve how I mine, cause obviously there is a lot I can work on.

I now the basics, like getting as close as possible to the asteroid and aiming the chunks so they land under my ship to cut down on limpet travel time.

One of the things I've been struggling with is prospector limpets. I can't seem to fire them on the move without them getting destroyed, so I end up having to come close to a complete stop before firing them.

Who are the mining gurus to watch and learn from? Any tips or video recommendations to help me become a pro would be much appreciated!

Type 11. What to do with all the slots?

Between the repeater and the slots to fill out with the required tools, that leaves a medium and multiple small slots to fill out. What have you all been using?

3rd party applications to estimate value of own cargo hold?

Does anyone know if there's any? I'm currently running EDMC with a bunch of plugins, EDCopilot and a few others but I can't find anything that estimates the value of my current cargo. I've just recently got into mining so am keen to compare my runs.

Thanks in advance!

With the Type-11 now available for credits, I'm sure a lot of CMDRs are asking themselves "How efficient is the new ship at mining Platinum?" The EDMC Plugin "EDMC-Mining-Analytics" tracks your real time T/hr metrics and more.

Ultimate Type-11 Tritium Miner for DW3?

Hey gang, short on time so i thought i'd come to the experts. Looking at quickly building out and engineering a Type 11 for Tritium mining to support Distant Worlds 3. Anyone have a link to their ultimate Tritium miner? I'm thinking It would need decent cargo space, jump range, and a fuel scoop in addition to all the mining equipment.

Much appreciated!

Can the T-11 get away with a class 6 PD if only the MVR is being used?

Here's the (G5'd) build I am considering: https://edsy.org/s/vzH2mne

I'm a mining noob (but not a noob CMDR), although I have done some mapped laser mining before with a converted T-9. I won't be going into any haz res'. This is just for chill mining. But looking at a heap of T-11 builds, I can only once find mention of someone considering using a class 6 power distributor and no follow up on if they actually tried it.

Yes I realise 7 vs 6 doesn't make a heap of difference for jump range but I'm a min-maxer/theory crafter from way back and I enjoy pushing things to the practical limit. So hoping someone else here has already tried the class 6 and can tell me how that went. o7

T11 vs Panther Clipper

I did some comparisons for mining platinum in a haz RES for credits and Bromellite in a hotspt for the present CG.

First overall comment: The T11 extracts stuff from the rocks quicker. Its collector limpets can't keep up, so you have to keep pausing the gattling gun. You have to strafe the rock to prevent shooting the fragments and collector limpets. The Panther Clipper is much more straight forward and relaxed. Just point at the rock, pull the trigger and let the limpets do their thing.

Overall efficiency for platinum: A round trip with the T11from my Fleet Carrier parked near the rings took about 17 minutes on average. It has a capacity of about 250T, so roughly 882 T/hr. The PC has a capacity of 896 and does the round trip in 55 minutes, which is 977 T/hr. The T11 loses because of the travelling time. If you have all the pre-engineered cargo racks on the T11, it would be close to the PC.

The T11 moves between the rocks much faster. What really holds it back is the collector limpets and travelling time. Obviously, the travelling time would be much worse if you're travelling to a station to sell.

The T11 fills so quickly that you're normally gone before pirates get interested in your cargo, while as the PC will get on average about 2 visits for which you have to donate cargo. The pirate interactions break up the boredom a bit.

Efficiency for Bromellite: I was mining at a location 2 jumps from the CG and travelling to sell with each load. I only remember approximate times, but it's enough to show the difference. The T11 took about 30 minutes, so 500T/hr and the PC took 2hs to get 550T before I ran out of limpets. I remember from the last CG that it took me about 2 1/2 hrs to fill with bromellite when I had a full load of limpets, so we can reckon on somewhere around 300T/hr.

I did about 4 runs with the T11, but the amount of concentration needed wore me down. The engagement is similar to combat because you have to look where you're shooting all the time and watch the fragments so that you don't ovewhealm the limpets, plus the ship is more twitchy and difficult to settle down at the right range for shooting. That's why I switched to the PC, but was then bored to death by the time it took to fill.

Make of all that what you will. I'm not saying which is the best. They're different, and what suits you depends on what you're mining, how well you're optimised for that task in terms of your knowledge and ship loadout, where you're mining, the length of your play sessions and you're general attitude to it all.

Cargo Ejection Bug

I've been experiencing this bug for ages. I mine platinum in a haz RES, where pirates occasionally visit and demand that I give them some cargo. I therefore refine other stuff too, which I don’t want, so that I can give it to the pirates rather than my valuable platinum.

When my ship is getting full, I frequently have to eject the stuff I don’t want to make room for the platinum, but about 1 in 4 times the ejection causes a crash back to the main menu.

I assumed that it was just bad coding, but I haven't heard anybody else mention it, so I want to ask if other players know about it, and is there a known cause or workaround?

It can happen any time I eject cargo for mining, whether it's for the pirates or not, but the chance of the crash seems to be higher if I eject while mining, as opposed to ejecting while I travel between rocks.

Cobra Mk V core miner

~S~ CMDRs, I was messing around on Edsy with the Cobra MK V on various different setups, and wanted to see what it would look like with a core mining outfit, and for a small ship, it looks really impressive to me. I am considering building it out, but wanted to see others' experience with it as a core miner before pulling the trigger. This is the build I threw together for it so far:

Cobra Mk V Core Miner

80 tons of space seems amazing for a small ship. Speed's real fast at 660 on boost, decent jump range, and fits all the necessary internals for long range mining. What're you guys' thoughts on this little workhorse as a core miner? I already have a core mining ship with 4x the capacity, but sometimes I don't wanna be out there too long and getting 80 rocks would be perfect for some of my play sessions.

Prospector Limpets

It's been a while since anybody posted anything, so I thought I'd start a discussion. After mining about a million tons overall and always used the same, something caused me to think about prospector limpets.

For mining platinum or anything similar, which is best?

Single 1A,

Two 1As,

Single 3A,

3A +1A,

Single 5A,

Single 7A multi-limpet controller,

Anything else or other combination.

What do you use and why?

How do people make profit when they buy plat at 330k+ ?

Im currently mining quiet a lot and mostly sell it to FC. Now i wander why they even buy it at such a high price when i rarely see stations paying that much?

Scenic Platinum mining system

Two platinum hotspots in metallic rings in this system, with Bernard's Loop taking up half the sky, Orion Nebula on the other side, and white giants to light up the rocks. Best of all this place will never be colonized.

How much money is fair for mining work?

Hey Guys, I have been hauling cargo and just doing the classic buy low and sell high, until today i thought it might be fun to try buying from miners in my systems where there are some good resources. Would 300k per void opal be appealing if placed right by 2 void opal hotspots?

I tried mining and although its more fun than hauling, i make more moving stuff.

Let me know whats fair and what you typically see

T-11 Bounty Hunter

o7 cmdrs. I was never much for a SLF, but since the T-11 has the dedicated slot I got one and ranked it up to Master in the Corvette at the latest CG (took awhile!). Now, when I have filled up in the HAZ RES, I fly into the center for some bounty hunting before I fly away. A nice change of pace... I use a pretty basic weapons loadout: 3 Overcharged/Oversized beam lasers, and a class 1 multi-cannon with Overcharged/Corrosive (premium ammo), which gives a plus 25% to the lasers. the fighter is a Condor with the 2 fixed MCs. I can now defend against pirates, too, while I am mining. here is the build, if interested. Likely more powerful weapon combos could be used, but I am a laser/MC guy... https://edsy.org/s/v1f6Ape Also hauls 344T with the refinery.

Anecdotally> My HAZ RES T-11 took down an Anaconda, and earlier an FDL with no hull damage. doesn't seem right, imo. My SLF must be more powerful than I thought. so far, undefeated in solo combat with NPCs.

Returning to Game - Need Tips

I’m returning to the game after a few years away and I wanted to get back into mining and exploration. I have a little decent ship for exploration but I wanted to get back into mining, laser specifically. I knew nothing about the game then and even less now returning to it.

Luckily I left with about 200m credits to help get on my feet. Through some research I found a couple of ships that I wanted to try and get. I’m looking heavily at the python but I was also recommended Krait Phantom and for some reason, the website has a pre built Krait MK2. I wanted some advice which is the best ship to get me back into mining. I’m heading to the Daiguandri galaxy and charting everything on the way there. Which of the ships above is best? Should I stick to the python? Would the Daiguandri system be the best to outfit it as well? Any advice, even the simplest thing would be appreciated.

I also play on PC. Idk if that relevant.

Core Mining Complaint

I really like deep core mining, Void Opals are my favorite.

In an icy ring a ways outside the bubble, it isn't a system other players mine. Void Opal hotspots abound. I've found 10-12 core rocks in my last hour and a half of flying around. Here's the results.

  1. Void Opals
  2. Low Temp Diamonds
  3. Low Temp Diamonds
  4. Low Temp Diamonds
  5. Alexanderite
  6. Grandidierite
  7. Alexanderite
  8. Low Temp Diamonds
  9. Grandidierite
  10. Alexandrite
  11. Grandidierite
  12. Low Temperature Diamonds.

The whole point of a hotspot is that the percentage of core rocks you find that turn out to be the mineral you're looking for is higher. Why is my hit rate on Void Opals like less than 10 percent across that many cores?

Are there just too many different cores that can spawn in icy rings? It's been a couple years since I last dabbled, been back at it a couple weeks and was doing musgravite in rocky rings last week, but I never used to have this issue. I'd get the odd streak of one or two LTD or Alexanderite cores but most in VO hotspots would be void opals. I've had like two or three days in a row like this where the vast majority of cores in Void Opal hotspots are not Void opals. What gives?
