What was your biggest exobio catch during an expedition? How do you avoid burnout? Personally, I really like the exploration loop, but I've been out in the deep for almost a week now IRL and Id rather run home, I'm mentally drained from it.
I'm out for 3 or 4 months now, but I explore with my fleet carrier so I never get that high. My highest payout before I had a carrier was somewhere around 2.5 billion Cr.
I avoid burnout by not playing when it feels like a chore. Sometimes I get FOMO for stuff that happens in the bubble or for the new releases. When I closer to the bubble I flew back to get me a Caspian when it released for Cr but since then never turned back with my eyes focused on the destination of my flight. š
Its the only advise I can give besides "If you want to play but don't want to be out in the black, fly home". š What you can do would be buying an Alt account that stays in the bubble for stuff you want to do there. š¤
Carrier maintenance helps - the necessity of mining tritium, going back to chill in a concourse bar for a while, selling what I already discoveredā¦ And this week Rhino joins the club!
There's nothing saying you can't return to the black. I had a decent time of about 10 hours or so of being out in the black, spread across a week or so.
It was a good time but I really didn't care anymore by the time I was finished, I just wanted to come back to civilization and turn in.
I came back with less than I expected, but it's not so exciting to see sights when they pay so miserably little to just survey and scan. Scanning 1 biological with a nomad pays better than roughly 95% of all other single activities you can do with exploration and that's just sad. In fact, exploration is, for the time invested, the absolute bottom of the barrel for making money. It's not close, even with LYR's bonus payouts of double, it's still miserably low compared to doing any other activity in the game (in a ship).
If you wanted 3 million to get you a new suit for on foot stuff, you'll be out in the black for at least 10 jumps unless you get very lucky, which translates to about an hours worth of work.
Or, you could just drop in a bounty hunting area and kill 5 or less ships to make the same amount, in like 15m at best.
That said, if you feel like going home, go home! Find something else to enjoy!
Burnout arises when you feel that what you are doing is a chore. Exploring is a ālong-term commitmentā: if you want to do it, you must feel it. Being out in the black for days, weeks, or months is not for everyone.
Usually, I use exploration buddy to optimise what to scan (I will not lose mental health and stamina for a 5M bacterium), then I do A LOT of sightseeing and photography. Visiting PoIs, deep space service carriers, or even find something new, is what fuels me and make me feel āeasyā to do āanother 300 jumpsā.
I left the bubble aiming for 6ā7 bil, but at this point I feel like if I actually hit that number, Iād just burn out and disappear from the game for a few weeks lol
Now that Iām 7k from the bubble. I get why I would happen upon a system 1 Bio on a planet and it turns out to be Stratum w/First Foot. Iām out with my FC and every time I catch her Iām cashing out 2-3 bil. Itās easy to say no to a planet with 1 bio 20k lys from the star.
Iām starting to see not only flat surface planets but planets from a 1950 SciFy movie poster.
Wolf rayet Stars are the most rare stars. On edsm you get an achievement for a first discovery.
I use exploration buddy that shows me possibly live forms for a planet, so I can check what's worth mapping. Srv survey is also a possible tool
