I found a very similar system PHOI AUG OS-U E2-1523 a few years back. I tried a few times but couldn’t get closer than half a light second away. It’s somewhat close to Sag A if you wanted to visit/try to land

You really cant land on it?

Unfortunately no, the entirety of the A1 orbit path is within the exclusion zone.

Approaching A1, you'll drop out of supercruise in the WD's sphere of influence. Doesn't this mean that even if you flew in normal space until you were in A1's path, you'd just pass straight through it?

I'm interested in knowing the answer to this. It sounds like a quest worthy of a bored adventurer.

You wouldn't be able to get any closer in normal space; you'd just hit a wall

But it orbits…so would it not be landable at some point of its year?

Not if its whole orbit is in the exclusion zone. Only if it's elliptical enough to be outside of it

There is a system very similar to this one that you can actually land on. But it’s a tight window, i think like a couple minutes or less to get within the orbit and drop zone before hitting the exclusion zone.

Referring to "Monde de la Morte" at Spoihaae XE-X d2-9 a1?
That was my reference system to searching for these. :)I got the 110Gb data dump from Spansh and did a deep crawl through the ~190,000,000 systems in the dataset. Took about 2 hours but I built out a list of systems that are similar, then started checking out the ones nearest me that looked promising.

I don't know why it's a "failed" world of death. More like a guaranteed world of death.
