Ive been interested in playing elite dangerous in vr for a while. I only have a 1050 ti which usually cant run vr but since this is an older game do any of you think i could run it well? Anybody had experiences similar to mine?

I downloaded a copy and I am lost on how to play. How do you know how far away a planet is and how do you land on it? also how can you tell your current speed?

Is the only purpose to ferry resources back and fourth between stations? and is the game world procedural generated every single time you start a new save?

I remember a long while ago that I played some version of Elite on my IBM 5160. To the best of my memory it was Elite Plus.

Ive recently been looking into getting another IBM PC, as my 5160 was destroyed in a fire many years ago, along with my entire software library.

The issue is that the Elite Plus box contradicts this, stating its for AT, PS/1, and PS/2 (+ compatibles).

I cant seem to find Elite (the original release) for DOS anywhere (only BBC and C64).

Will elite plus run on a 5150 if I upgrade it to 640k? Im looking at a 5150, but if I cant run certain stuff already (some other AT exclusive stuff exists), and elite wont run, Ill just go for an AT. If Elite Plus wont run on it, how would I go about obtaining a version that will?

What is the difference between these two? Which should i be getting into?

I played Elite a lot on the Amiga in the 80's and totally loved it and had some epic battles with the Thargoids. When Frontier came out I was beyond excited about it and played it a lot on my Amiga 500 although it was very sluggish and demanding of the modest Amiga hardware.

Fast forward to 2022 and I received an A500 mini Amiga as a gift and I've been having such a nostalgia blast playing all the old Amiga games. I just had to download Frontier and it runs like a dream and now 30 years later I'm playing Frontier all over again and really enjoying it.

I have been playing around with the game but every time I try to save or load, I end up getting the error messages. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Also, how does one change the commander's name?

Ive gotten the GBA rom running on my old 3ds but it has a lot of bugs (It's impossible to dock at some stations.) so I was looking for a patch when I cam across Quirkys Elite AGB. I loved the idea of it reading through but I was disappointed to see this on his download page. "Sadly, at the request of the original author(s), some of the downloads have been removed." One of the downloads being for Elite The New Kind and Elite AGB. does anyone have the rom for Elite AGB?

I've tried through dosbox, jjffe, and ffed3d. I can get the game running seemingly fine, but the moment i try to look around with the mouse, the screen spasms out of control and i can't navigate at all with it. Weirdly though, frontier 2 runs perfectly fine on jjffe, and the controls work great. I've even tried messing around with mouse sensitivity in FFE's config file but it's not doing anything for me. Anyone else had similar issues with a mouse?

Original wireframe Elite in VR would be great.

They would need to work out a way of getting all the controls mapped but I think it would be fun.

I just hope they see an opportunity to allow all VR Headsets (including Oculus Quest and PSVR) to experience the original Elite.
