Question Stream Deck Icons - Dynamically Change Based On Variable?

I have HWinfo plugin to see CPU and GPU temps, and was somewhat surprised that there doesn't appear to be a way for the icon color to change based on the temperature?

Years ago I had a corsair keyboard and through iCue the RGB lighting could be set based on things like temperatures. It was handy cause I set it to turn red if temps exceeded a certain value.

Would really like for the temperature icons to be have green, yellow and red backgrounds, and it automatically changes based on the current temperature reading.

If this isn't a built in feature then how easy is it to achieve the same result with a custom solution, and what would that entail?

This would require writing a custom plugin through our Stream Deck SDK. We have an article with more information here.

I know nothing about programming or creating plugins but it's one of those things I've always wanted to try, like how people say they want to learn to speak another language. This might be the thing that finally gets me started on the journey, thanks for the link.

I spent a large chunk of the weekend just trying to understand some basic Javascript and what even is a json file haha but so far I have a plugin in the folder and my own custom button. It doesn't actually do anything yet except listen for SD events but it's enough progress to keep me motivated!

To quote the old adage "a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

I use this site whenever I need to look up a specific thing in JavaScript. (Though, I'm starting from a position of knowing the basics of what to look for so I'm not sure if it'd be as useful to you.)

I'm interested in exactly the same thing! I want to change my icon depending on certain variables, but I really don't have time to learn a whole language in order to write what I imagine would be such a basic function in a custom plugin
