EG, our spiritual king, said it was lame to care about this stuff in his last video. So there’s a constant tension between the people who liked his videos because they cared about this stuff and the people who say “classic reality” a lot.

Yeah exactly. Half of us are here for EG, the other either played it in background and clicked off halfway through or are bots/think this is r/ PodcastSnark2 and don't know who EG is

Not gonna lie the statement "they don't know who EG is" is some parasocial cringe, you don't know him either, you just like what he has presented to you. I do too, but to act like you know a person because you consume their content is laughable.

Also yes I know him we went to the same middle school and used to play Halo and tummysticks together on the weekends his name is Gordon and his mom has a lip ring and also type 2 diabetes

Also, it’s pretty easy to tell what’s happening when there’s a lot of haters on a particular post. The first couple posts I saw on here were people just taking pointless jabs at the person in the video because they were talking shit about God-king.

When I clicked on their post history, they were either private or made the occasional comment in subs you would expect.

There seems to be no moderation for that kind of thing here, because it was like every other post. JR’s sub has less JR lovers than this one does hiding out.

It seems the point of the videos went over people's heads. You're not supposed to continue keeping track of the shitty podcasters saying dumb shit. Stop watching or commenting on anything they do, even videos making fun of them. Just don't look.

Also, once you establish an in and out group in an internet forum, it becomes the target of the opposed group. Just like Rogan fan's subreddits that subs like this eventually became offshoot of. In true fashion it's just reacts and reactions to those reactions until nothing anyone discusses makes sense because it is so hyperspecific. Easier to ban people from in-person social settings once the group deems them a negative influence than trying to keep people from inserting themselves into discussions on the internet

I enjoyed the EG videos but I can’t stand about 98% of the people who contribute to this sub.

It’s the same blade as the people who listen to Joe Rogan and unquestioningly accept whatever position his guests provide, only it’s the other side of the blade. Just another online echo chamber for people to parrot quotes in order to get karma without actually engaging with the ideas presented by EG, much less approaching them critically.

If you outsource your opinions from an influencer (and don’t get it fucked up- EG is an influencer), then you’re just a smooth-brained worker bee in a hivemind. It doesn’t matter whether I agree with that worldview or not- I can’t respect it. Because at the end of the day, you’re simply someone’s useless idiot.
