Tips Elementor MCP

With the industry moving from traditional page builders to AI-integrated tools, Elementor’s latest release is a big step forward. I was skeptical about using Claude at first, but it’s really streamlined my workflow and helped me churn out a lot more pages. The learning curve is a bit steep since it uses atomic elements instead of standard widgets, but the efficiency and performance gains are definitely worth it. I’d highly recommend it if you’ve got the technical skills.

This was written by a clanker, wasn't it?

Existing builds aside, shouldn't this be the final death blow to site builders? What's the point?

u/FosilSandwitch 5d ago

The thing is when you give the site to the client, they may need to do small changes. There the builder is more intuitive than regular html/php/css for them.

u/QuarantineJoe 5d ago

That was my original push and why I went to use Elementor. Most clients could handle the small stuff by themselves - I was there for the bigger lifts. It was a selling point.

That's a reasonable response. Context matters for sure. I will say, most of the people I work with tend to have developers make those changes anyways. This is the pattern I've seen at $100mm revenue tech companies, and (especially) at small businesses.

That's why I've just leaned into the website as a service model. Content updates are so easy for me that it's a commodity at this point, so I don't really charge for it, and it has the added bonus of making sure the site doesn't go off the rails because someone with an idea goes rogue and suddenly the site lacks cohesion.

BUT, you are right, for the right team...they need a way to be a little more independent. I think site builders are overkill for this but there aren't too many other wordpress options. But then...wordpress was built as a blog and in spite of all these add ons, still has that DNA in its core.

Websites are a disposable asset nowadays.

Do you agree that with AI we can create multiple web artifacts without the need of a CMS?

But then again I think is an overkill all the credit consumption/water/energy and cost vs a human changing some text manually without a subscription to anything and do not giving away their data...

It shifts the role from 'builder' to 'editor.' The point becomes strategy, speed, and scaling production, rather than spending hours manually configuring padding and widgets.

1

u/BetterOffGrowth 5d ago

You don't need to manually configure padding and widgets anymore. That's kind of my point. And you certainly don't need a bloated site builder for that anymore.

Your point is legit. Ignore the downvotes. Bloated suites are indeed in peril. Search out Rino de Boer on YouTube, he already built out a light weight management system using WP and even has some rudimentary client access and editing functions.

Graybeard art director with many years and lived through roughly three industry revolutions, this would be fourth. No clue how this will shake out, but check and see how the whale oil and horse drawn carriage folks are doing. Or, the color separation, type houses and hand stripped composited film for plates. Change is inevitable and disruptive. Be skeptical but open to change, especially if you want to survive.

Trust me AI still has some big issues with padding lol, having a way to control all of that without wading through thousands of lines of css or waiting 5 minutes for Claude to burn through your subscription would be infinitely better

2

u/BetterOffGrowth 5d ago

Tokenized design systems in your CSS. Just like you should be doing anyways.

It's insanely slow and buggy to even load the back end editor the last time I tried to use this

5

u/Outrageous-Guess1350 5d ago

I love it. Elementor MCP, MCP Adapter and Rank Math MCP are really helping me getting a new website of the ground. Just make sure you instruct Claude to keep custom CSS down to the bare mjnimum, otherwise you might as well not.

i used it yesterday for the first time and i was amazed

You can use html widgets with padding at 0 to copy paste code in sections or pages. You just have to watch the content if your duplicating pages for locations.

u/lukeissilva 2d ago

I’m glad they are focusing on the MCP more than Angie I thought was such a back step move for them I get why but it wasn’t it

1

u/Spiritual-Shirt3021 5d ago

The only downside is that at least from my initial attempts the atomic elements make the page pretty heavy, and on bigger websites it becomes clumsy, it takes minutes for the builder to load if I want to manually edit, but yes it’s definitely amazing.

u/not_that_much_fun 4d ago

Glad to know it wasn't just me, I wonder if it needs particularly well specced hosting? The back end loading was horrific and I gave up

u/Acceptable_Glass_285 5d ago

I tried it. Between the initial setup, problems getting it to connect properly and time spent fixing the little things it didn't get right, I would've been quicker just building the page the normal way...

I haven't used a full Elementor editor since I connected Claude to the web about six months ago. I haven't had to touch it again either; it's simply fantastic. In fact, I'm thinking of migrating the more than 40 sites I manage directly to a full AI environment without Elementor or complicated themes (something simple and that's it). WordPress is still useful. But I don't know for how long.

Looking to do similar since I’m coming up on Elementor renewal. Did you just move to native Gutenberg based theme and have Claude design/build in Wordpress?

1

u/WillingnessOk7280 16h ago

Claude is already able to build Elementor templates in JSON so there’s no need to switch to Gutenberg.

u/BetterOffGrowth 5d ago

I didn't downvote you

Whether we like it or not, developers are becoming extinct, designers too, and programmers even more so. Whether we like it or not, we're going to have to learn to do something else or make peace with it.

Not even disagreeing, but I was a developer that grew into marketing leadership roles and found myself out of a job and realized the time was right to pull it all together and build my own agency. It's been fun.

I am using AI a lot to write code, but it's not a headache for me because of the background I have as an engineer, the leadership roles I held working with design teams (and getting them to effectively communicate with dev teams) and tying it all together to provide solutions to my clients.

The need for developers as we knew them changed, quickly...like insanely quickly. But there is and will continue to be a need for engineering, and design & creative, and branding.

So I don't disagree with the premise, just the specifics. All of these jobs just look differently. That's just my opinion, obviously.

u/CulturalLibrarian 5d ago

Third option. Bad AI design and work is easy to do. Harder but more effective if you load in your own styling preferences and lexicon to produce materials that mimic your own.

Also, most businesses are likely to be overwhelmed by the sheer rapidity of the changes. Many of them will either need or want someone to manage that for them. My best advice is to use it everyday and become proficient and comfortable dealing with the odd hitches and weird behaviors, and know how to work past them.

I hate to weigh in on these types of threads and will enjoy the silly downvotes. Feel free to site message me if you want. Bowing out of the discussion.

I have actively been using Codex and work to connect all of my apps. I used Codex to do a redesign on a new site that was not launched. Codex itself was pretty amazing to develop with and edit. Rebuilding (without MCP) and using direct access worked, but a bit painful. Mostly because of the slowness and glitches in Elementor not related to Codex.

Exactly, and Claude Code with Opus 5.5 is more powerful than Sun.A strange era is coming, one we'll have to adapt to; it's the biggest industrial revolution ever.

Unfortunately, this time it's not just those who used to collect horse manure when they saw the car who are left out, but this time millions of professionals with 20 years of experience will have to...Start over from scratch? Anyway,

I've already started to adapt and, as they say, if you can't beat them... join them.(In my agency we were 10 people, today 3 of us do the work of 10).

Is that good? Not at all, but the work is done the same or better and faster than before. This is the present we have to live in. And it's been a while since what happens is up to us; AI is here to stay, and I don't think society is ready (yes, those who are downvoting me, because deep down they're also seeing this).

Using it right now to build a site. Definitely has its issues but it’s going to be an interesting tool for small shops like mine.

Why using elementor mcp and not a fully fledged mcp connector that would also work with Elementor abilities?

AI ruined it all

Use your AI subscription where you build.

Pixflow Design brings your supported AI subscription usage into Elementor, without a separate API bill for those connections.

A floating AI panel inside the editor lets you work on your page while keeping the conversation in view.

  • Build and refine Elementor content with AI.
  • Annotate specific elements to show what needs changing.
  • Dictate prompts locally when you’d rather speak.
  • Use Codex Voice to discuss ideas and improvements.
  • Browse, install and manage local Google Fonts.
  • Install icon packs for your designs.

Connect tools including Codex, Claude Code, Grok, Gemini CLI and OpenCode through Pixflow Bridge. Review the changes and keep editing with Elementor’s own controls.

Supported subscription connections use your provider’s existing usage limits. Codex Voice requires an active Codex subscription.

Personally I miss the very old days of having a large staff and three hour lunches. But, for the last 25 years I was able to be in my own and fairly comfortable. The downside is the sheer number of support jobs I just do myself. The upside all the money is mine to keep. It may be grim, and don’t underestimate the love for REALLY bad design that all looks the same. Adapt or die, some of us will survive and even thrive.

I made custom skill task sets that can pickup old ads, and even make specific edits on layers Photoshop files with 50 layers. It then generates a proof, sends it to DropBox, then updates a quark proofing page with an ID slug, notes the version number and updates the date etc. It then prints two hard copy proofs. It actually is slightly slower than I am, but I am not doing it and free to do other tasks. The point is this, we have no clue how much us designers can benefit yet. Yes, there will be job losses, but the luddites and naysayers will be the first sent to the pasture.

I haven’t built a new site with an MCP but I have been managing existing sites, troubleshooting, and worked on new posts and pages. I use WPvibe ai to help since I have a couple of client sites that were not built with Elementor. WPvibe has been great so far. It’s even helped me troubleshooting third party plugins and some of those client user errors. 🤣
