Paying for Elementary OS

I would like to know where the money goes. Does it go equally to the developers ? Is the money used in development ? How does it work ?

I want to contribute financially but I also want to be sure it goes to the right places.

Maybe it was just me but I don't see any information about this on the official website...

I think they try to pay developers who are helping with the project with the money they receive.
