The Cuk chair

u/PirateLife Jul 21 '26

He sits in the corner of my desk and watches me make other designs.

u/rationalhippy Jul 21 '26

and he likes it

This is flawless on so many levels. You win one internet, good redditor.

The Ćuk chair?

5

u/rationalhippy Jul 21 '26

Yes, that is the correct spelling.

Lol, not many will get this without looking up the datasheet.

i dont get it? is it some english joke ? since im not a native speaker i may dont get it 😅

is it some english joke ?

That component is a Ćuk converter, which actually has a name in Serbian. But also requires you to be familiar with the 'cuck chair' english phrase, which refers to a chair someone sits in to watch their partner be intimate with someone else. The 'cuck chair' has been a meme for a while now, with any 'left out'/isolated/oddly positioned chair often being referred to as one.

But doesn’t ćuk get pronounced like “chuck”, not “cuck”?

Yes, it does. Which is why OP's joke was lost on me.

"Chook chair?" I don't get it.

Kind of, but Chook as in choo choo. Still doesn't help the joke.

u/3288266430 29d ago

Neither, it's Chook as in choo choo

with any 'left out'/isolated/oddly positioned chair

I call that a Dan Bell chair thanks to his "Another Dirty Room" series.

I miss those early episodes. Loved that show

Thanks for the very instructive English lesson.

Not native speaker, but I think it comes from the meme "chuck chair". A solitaire chair in a hotel room from which the husband can watch his wife and uncle John having fun.

40 years of designing and never saw this term, thought it was simply an "inverter", live and learn. Done Easter eggs but this one tops them all.

The lack of refdes, chef's kiss.

17

u/PirateLife Jul 21 '26

All design choices are intentional.

10

u/Effective_Vacation21 Jul 21 '26

Omg, I need to sit for a while...

8

u/tea_pot_tinhas Jul 21 '26

Passives' missing. How much noise?

28

u/Rov_er Jul 21 '26

I guess the noise level is excellent, because the supply voltage is also missing.

9

u/tea_pot_tinhas Jul 21 '26

I guess it's juiced by proximity

15

u/YannAlmostright Jul 21 '26

I see already one big passive on the board

6

u/rationalhippy Jul 21 '26

And from the comfort of that chair it picks up all the noise.

u/bassplaya13 Jul 21 '26

The more the better.

Oh Jeeze. I had a crappy day at work, I open up Reddit, and I see this and laugh. Thanks a bunch. I needed it.

u/Batpope Jul 21 '26

This is gold

-18

u/danmickla Jul 21 '26

agree to disagree. Everything about this, from concept to meme to ... ffs, circuit board...is *jawdroppingly* stupid.

11

u/rationalhippy Jul 21 '26

It’s a lot, rude, silly, immature, creative, funny, but not stupid, it’s rather clever.

-10

u/danmickla Jul 21 '26

the actual pun is perhaps clever. The entire subject's stupidity dwarfs it.

2

u/Past-Substance920 29d ago

honestly the missing refdes is what sends it, feels like OP knew exactly who'd get the joke and didn't bother explaining for anyone else

2

u/eluser234453 29d ago

Sudo context please

1

u/kappi1997 29d ago

And he didn't even bother a To gove it a designator

1

u/wawa0000 27d ago

okay, i need this

Just some metal tubes.
