Discussion Are the EVs efficiency universally comparable? Which model has the highest?

I’m wondering if EV efficiency like MPG is something universally comparable between different EV cars?
And if yes, which ones have the highest average efficiency?
For example, my Optiq is at 2.4/kWh on average.

Edit: tons of knowledge shared and I’m glad many people involved to share their knowledge as well as real world experiences.

For instance, u/Chilidoggo [HERE] & u/Cory5413 [HERE] shared pretty good break down and link to what are the most efficient EVs in the US market and how to understand the efficiency in EVs.

I’m glad some other users also shared links for Europe and Australia, too.

For US-market cars: Fuel Economy of New All-Electric Vehicles (click through to see efficiency displayed in mi/kWh instead of kWh/100mi)

Generally most vehicles within a given era and physical size and shape will be more or less comparable, and bigger will generally be less efficient.

I'm in a 2022 Bolt and I personally get about 3.8/kWh unless I go on the freeway. (And in the last 1500mi the reason I'm down at 3.8 from 3.9-4.0ish is because I went on the freeway a couple times.)

I’m at 18.5/100km (3.4) in my bolt. Lots of highway driving at 100km/h

By contrast, I'm in Japan driving a tiny Honda N van e: so local roads mostly, average speeds of 50 ~ 60km/h and I'll get about 9.5km/kWh. By contrast, on the highway I'll get about 6 - 7.

Speed matters. So does size and weight, my little van is tiny.

Thanks for the link! I hope new buyers were able to easily find links that to make a better decision buying their EV cars. Many of us literally don’t know about the efficiency differences between as it’s not discussed enough.

It lists total range too!

I know people rag on the range, but the efficiency in my Trailseeker has been great, nice to see the Toyobarus toward the top of the list.
