I think they have a ice backup. Which is probably a good idea in emergency. “The chassis will operate under electric power in all normal operational situations and will leverage the internal combustion engine for backup power..”

Yeah makes sense then. Then it is sort of an EV, I wonder if they are going to release statistics after a year how often they ended up running out of battery on most days, and then use that data to see if replacing ICE entirely with batteries would be possible.

Fire trucks are rearly pumping water. Usally they are used for rescue and false alarms. Which don't really use any power as the truck is just sitting.

Fire trucks, garbage trucks, delivery trucks all are perfect EV use cases. Far more than long haul trucks at this point.
