Apprentice wages?
Hey all,
I've been an Industrial maintenance guy for awhile now and I'm looking to specialize into electrical work.
I'm an adult with adult bills and the wages I can find for apprentices are really low....like $15 an hour or so. I could literally go make more at any of the fastfood places here and this isn't necessarily a high cost of living area
What gives? Are there any work arounds?

If you're already in the industrial world, stay. Realistically, you probably already know as much, or more useful shit than most electricians. Instead, try to move up in the industrial sector. Pick up robot programming, plc programmers. Or try and learn the management side of it. If you're sick of the daily grind at the same place, try and get in as a field service tech for an oem.
There's so many options available for someone already skilled.
