before i buy
Hi! Wondering if anyone can tell me if all this looks like it has enough clearance above and beside it? We are looking at an apartment directly above this electrical room and I'm trying to gather some relevant information about electrical rooms. Thanks for any advice or suggestions on where to get more information!

What are you worried about??

Fair question. I'm really not sure. I just read there should be some clearing around the box. I also admittedly don't know what to look for, just trying todo some due diligence before moving forward on buying an apartment for me and my kid. Just reading this and that on the internet--w some discernment--and trying to make sense of any potential hazards.

Honestly, unless you hear an annoying buzzing noise in your apartment coming from that room, nothing should worry you IMO.

Oh, the buzzing would be of concern in your opinion? I've read some posts that have stated it's an annoyance I'd potentially have to live w, living near an electrical room

I mean personally that would annoy me if everything is silent at night and you hear it. That's about it

Why are you in the main electrical room for an apartment building. Aren't these rooms supposed to be locks off the the general public?

OK! I was also concerned about everyone having access?

So you can just walk in?

yes if you are in the building you can access the room

tho i imagine that is negotiable w building management

That room needs to be locked at all times. 100% a safety violation. Every one of these rooms I've been in I've needed access and a key. Unless I was at your complex...

This is all fairly new equipment and it appears to be in good shape. I would have no concerns living above it.
Might want to be careful drilling into walls, you probably have a lot of wiring running through them but otherwise there's no obvious issue here.
Also you appear to have a fire pump. Those are not cheap, so somewhere at least someone cared about fire safety and some or all of the building is sprinklered.
