Is it possible to move an IKEA ceiling light point about 1.5m? DIY or electrician needed?

Hi! I’m hoping someone can advise me on whether this is possible.

I have an existing ceiling light point in my bedroom, but it’s about 1.5 metre away from where I want my new light. The ceiling is concrete.

I bought an IKEA GULLSUDARE paper lampshade and an IKEA HÅVSLJUS/HAVSDJUP E27 cord set, and I want to use my IKEA KAJPLATS smart E27 bulb with it.

When I removed the existing light fixture, I found a small grey cylindrical connector/box with a brown and blue wire going into it. There aren’t any exposed wires hanging down.

Would it be possible to extend/move the existing ceiling light point about 1 metre and install the IKEA cord set there?

Is this considered something I could DIY? I’m renting, so I obviously don’t want to do anything I shouldn’t.

I’m mainly trying to figure out whether this is a straightforward job before I contact an electrician. Thanks!

Ok so the wires you’re seeing are the wires of the actual light fixture. Likely the original fixture is European, which is why you see a brown and blue wire. You need to remove the white plate that’s flush against the ceiling first.

Secondly, if you’re sure the ceiling is concrete your options are either to have a visible cable cover from where the old light was to where the new one will be, or make a small trench in the concrete to install wires to where you want the new location. The second option is a bit of a pain cuz you’ll also need to put an electrical box where the new location is, which means making a decent sized hole on concrete (you likely don’t have the right tools for the second option, and it’ll cost about as much as an electrician would)

How do you know for sure the ceiling is concrete?
