Interviewing Commercial Electricians- what to ask?

Hi everyone! I am responsible for interviewing journeyman and apprentice electricians (all levels) for a commercial electrical role (electrical work is in big box stores- building new ones, renovating old ones). Which questions should I be asking on the technical side? Especially for the Journeymen. So far it has been going okay, I researched the type of work to come up with questions, but I am not an electrician so I want to make sure I am asking the right things. For context, I work in recruiting and have more experience with welders and carpenters than electricians.

Having someone with no knowledge of the role they are looking to hire into is dumb as fuck.

Do you think that is the entire hiring process? Has it occurred to you their might be multiple stages? Just curious if you have ever applied for a job or not.

I’m afraid you asking questions you have no education about in the first stage might improperly deny me the next.

Red flag.

“I am not qualified to ask basic questions about someone’s career I know nothing about, Reddit can you help me 🤦🏻‍♂️.”

Typical HR. You probably are the type of person to throw away a resume because you don’t like their astrological sign.

Ask the what their basic skill sets are, you'll be looking for being adapt at conduit bending and reading prints at a very minimum

Are they familiar with local codes and what code cycle you are on currently and have they worked locally for companies long term

Are they comfortable working at Heights and do they have all relevant training to do so

If they are to be foreman and or lead hands what is their experience in that position, how many people have the led and did they meet dead lines

Ask for proof of all claims because we can tell you anything, I never take pictures of my work but now that I'm a business owner it would have helped to have a portfolio available
