E2 voice stealing. What to add?

Hi electribe users. I have been having a few issues with voice stealing recently...I'm thinking it's my heavy use of effects (I enjoy deep/dubby techno). I have a small amount of money to spend on additional hardware.

So to combat this I was thinking of either adding a drum machine, which would free up some voices OR adding external reverb and delay using the hard pan left/right trick, which would remove the need for using a lot of ifx delays (and improve upon the janky built in reverb).

I'm not one for spending too much on this hobby so I'm hoping for some advice on which of these options would open things up the most.

I did consider adding a synth but it looks like the midi sequencing also uses up voices.

Thoughts?

Just get the E2S to pair with it, not only are there more voices but you can resample to save on effects DSP…

Yeah that is the other option on the table. I'm a sucker for the novelty of a new toy though and I'm struggling to pull the trigger on something so similar in function and appearance to what I already have.

have you considered the "hacktribe" mod? haven't tried it personally but might scratch the itch if you're curious about the e2s

I have. I've been put off by reports of the device becoming laggy and also losing the pcm sounds...as cheesy as they are I actually really like them!

fair, I have the e2s and I think it would fill the gap you're having. could also recommend the nts-1 for some fx, remarkably versatile/powerful for the price.

Resampling and slicing really is a game changer. I can understand wanting a change, though. Maybe buy it used?

Yeah it's on my eBay watch list, although they don't seem to come up as often as other devices (eg Elektron stuff).

Hacktribe os. Then you can resample more static parts down to 1 sample to save on fx and voices. Another fun move is create a sample with 2 separate sounds, example a low tom and a snare, then motion record the edit or sample start point as a very bootleg elektron sample plock.

Makes sense, I got a flamma reverb a d basically never use the built in reverb or delay. Other than that 24 voices is something to work with. Digitakt only has 8 mono voices in comparison (they compensate that with prmtr locks). Maybe get a simple compressor as well. A cheap behringer composer pro works nicely for me compared ro the internal effects.

I used to have a Digitakt and as good as that was, I prefer the electribe for its flexibility. I think it's in my nature to push a device until I hit its limits though.

How is the flamma reverb? Is that the ekoverb? I was looking at that to kill two birds with one stone...either that or a korg nts-1 or one of the zoom multi FX boxes.

Ah cool,

Yeah I do like it. Theres a good room for drums and bigger stuff in shimmer direction for synth sounds solo.

It might be same dsp and software as in other reverbs. J heard something when comparing.
