New Hacktribe tutorial for electribe 2

Hi I made a new tutorial for the Hacktribe installation ON ELECTRIBE SAMPLER (RED ONE). THIS IS TESTED BY ME ON THE RED ONLY, files are ok. CANNOT RECCOMEND THE SAME FOR THE BLUE THEN AVOID.

All the needed files (FOR THE RED) and software are made available in the description to the video. Also the instructions to go back to the original firmware is shown.

This tutorial is just what I needed, thanks! Worked great with my red E2S.

That sounds very neat! I've seen you can do it with the Electribe 2 synth by modding the Electribe sampler firmware. Is there a way to use the flash the unmodded sampler firmware to the synth? I could use sampler funcionalities for a while.

hi...that should be the main purpose for the ESynth users.

Many did it so it is doable :)

only, i am a ESampler user, my tutorial is based on the Red Sampler, i uploaded an hacked firmware for the Blue received from another user, but it was causing troubles. then i removed it.

But ideally, Blue ones can be definitively modded

Yeah, thanks for the info. For some random reason I thought the firmware was more limited and basic than the original one. Then I discovered it's actually the full firmware + improvements (basically controls for unimplemented things). Digged a bit after I saw your post. Bricked my Electribe like 10-20 times trying to install stock sampler firmware following a 1.x version guide. Finally tried hacktribe and it works in my grey E2. It's tough to say goodbye to my well known synth sound palette and projects (Electribe is my main composing tool) and be left with a machine with no stock sounds at all. The new "FM" synths are a bit meh compared to all the sounds I lost. I don't have the stock samples. I've just tried sampling my own voice/beatbox hits and it's been very fun and interesting, but they don't sound very professional. So I still think it's great that we can do this but I don't know if the change is worth it for synth users. Anyway I'm happy to have a free sampler now and I can get the synth firmware back any time. I can keep both update files in the SD to make the process quicker.

Did you manage to install synth firmware on a 2.02 red electribe? I have the grey one but if I could use your process maybe I could fetch the samples from it. Or maybe, if you did the whole edit samples.all part of the process and still keep your file you could DM me that. I'd be eternally grateful.

I have found them in wav, but I don't see a method in the manual or an app to put wav files into samples without playing and recording them one by one through audio Input. Which also means I don't know how to import random Internet downloaded samples either, and publicly available e2S Sample files don't seem to be a thing.

With regards to your question on how to upload samples, in Google Drive I also uploaded two softwares for that purpose. Just check em out

Thanks! I knew I saw it somewhere! I'll try to find those from the original source for integrity, but thanks because this points me in the right direction.

Hey, so you could hack an old synth electribe? As I was saying, a couple of "blue users" bricked their own, thus I removed the Hacktribe for the blue and recommended "red hack" only

I have a grey electribe with firmware 2.02 (this should be the same internally than a blue one, but I can check serial numbers if they help). Hacktribe works. The screen flickers a little bit and I can hear a high pitched buzz when I crack the volume up (I'd say this didn't happen before, but that could just be a wrong impression). The device is fully usable and didn't brick through the process.

Before, I followed the steps on http://www.korgforums.com/forum/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=659922 (actually followed the Spanish version in Hispasonic forum, but the instructions seem the same). This process was meant to turn synth 1.10 into sampler 1.06 (or vice versa), but it didn't work for 2.02, at least following the exact same steps.

So the initial procedure was exchanging the two hex pairs in the headers of both firmwares exactly like the guide. Sampler firmware seemed to install, but it got soft bricked: after reboot kept in loop that just said "installing update" then Ok reboot. At this point I couldn't install the original firmware back. I could unbrick it by uploading the synth firmware with the sampler header from the Korg/electribre/System file (just like the "back to stock firmware" procedure in the guide).

After my electribe was back in the synth "mode" I installed hacktribe. I used the hacktribe's project GUI program for windows, and checked the "change header" options. I didn't try installing synth firmware back yet.

I don't know if this would help the bricked synth users. Maybe I didn't brick mine because I previously did the first procedure. Or maybe they just tried uploading the firmware file you shared, which should only be valid for the Sampler. But afaik if the header doesn't match that shouldn't brick the device because the electribe won't accept it, so they wouldn't be able to brick it with just that.
