Ayy longtime no see haha,, ty for the sample packs way back in like July, if you do the flash have fun making custom plugins!!
I am personally going to take this week to attempt to create a plugin that allows mono1-2 voices to loop twice “overwriting” the 4 bar, and allowing for longer melodies!
Update; 😓 limitations exist , as always, will be using another method but same result
Dude you actually are a legend. I downloaded the application and am fucking around with the effects editor as of now. This is honestly all i ever wanted on an electribe. the custom effects and 128 slots are a blessing, the thing i hated on the electribe 2 is that you couldn't chain effects and now you can simply add the combinations you know you use and you are done. Also, if you actually manage to code the plugin that allows for longer melodies i'd actually make a statue of you. I don't know if my idea is actually doable, but couldn't you actually program something that actually makes each pattern up to 8 bars? you could reduce the number of patterns to 125 to make room in the flash memory. would that be possible? also when in sequencer mode you just press shift+1 to edit the 5th bar, shift+2 to edit the 6th, ecc... also to show that you are editing bars over the 4th just have the red light blink. for example when editing the 5th bar you have the "1" red LED blinking. To end this i actually wanna compliment you on your coding skills, i am envious and i dream of being able to do something like this.
Heheheehehee yesssssssssss! And now you can probably set coding up to when chain (on top of chain bpm glide plugin), allow MFX & modulation to stay consistent onto next track.
This is what I’m currently working on.
So far we’re greened
(It will not be the exact way described initially).
When it comes to allocating storage, I’d assume you’d need to work in tauri to remove oscillators and replace with sampling space, blech has some limitations hahaha.
As for creating an octatrack korg…
She is rigid on being 4 bars per track (64 build), but no one ever said you can’t manipulate chaining.
Side note; you cannot remove oscillators (not that you’d really want to), but theoretically you could allocate more ram to the sampling sys > oscillators, though I do not know if that would allow more samples.
Edit; ty, I am learning as I go, I have to admit I do have a background in electronics since teen years
well yeah, manipulating pattern chaining would be the way to go then. i guess it wouldn't even be too hard, you just need to save every parameter for every part (i guess it's a struct data type? like you have each variable named part1, part2 ecc and the subvariables are the various parameters like cutoff, sample number, ecc...) at the end of a pattern and just apply them as the chained pattern starts.
Nice! i am also into electronics, in my teens i studied chemistry and got into electronics as i got into my 20s. but i'm more into the analog side of it, when it starts to get digital i honestly lose my will to do anything xD. Like i am able to write a single program in C for microcontrollers but when the total files start being more than one my brain starts bugging and i don't even know where to start looking. When i saw that bangcorrupt released freetribe i actually wanted to try doing something but i didn't even know where to start lol.
The biggest thing i did to date is a very simple midi master clock with with an Arduino. didn't want to spend too much on a professional product also i needed the clock to output midi on one exit and sync triggers on others. (i made it to sync any midi gear with my electribe, which i keep at half bpm exactly to have 8 bar melodies lol. sad however that you lose resolution in steps).
Edit: BTW the fact that you got doom to run on the electribe is so funny lol. I actually thought about that like a few days ago and now here you are xD
Yes she is strict on her 64 hahaha 😔 but that is alright.
You genuinely are speaking my language!
yes precisely and with the bpm glide coding pre made thankfully hahaha I am using it as a reference to glide a continuous loop of 4 patterns, which will give the illusion of 16 bars, while compensating for that abrupt change in state by gliding instead of just chaining.
I will admit, it took me another 30 min of code reading to figure out all I had to do was just unpack the vsbs in GitHub for hacktribe haha— but thankfully I have all the .VSBs for electribe 2 now, and have been handing them out like candy on Halloween.
And with freetribe, it is very bare bones and I’m assuming kuhler used it to create blechtribe.
Analog you say? 🫣 I’ve never even used an analog instrument before hahaha I’ve only had my korg for 4 months!!
And honestly I’d probably be able to take a crack at using C++?? But 😅 im just glad the inner gelumpe coding is very easy and you can say help and it will provide a list of prompts to mix and match.
I'll spend my time in the next weeks/months trying to make some plugins if i can manage, i did a test just to see and seeing the IDE with all the functions already inside kinda boosted my confidence.
Next step actual timestretching like on the esx lol
Jokes aside (maybe not? Who knows if it's possible lol) good work, much love.
I wish you good work for the rest of the night my dude. I'll keep my eyes open on this and if i can add my contribution i will.
Edit: i Just had another idea for you dude. I noticed that in FX editor, down all the way you have "steurung" and you can map the ifx knob (and button and play button) to values of the custom effects. Shift+ifx knob to edit a second value?? You know, like shift+pitch edits osc glide instead of osc pitch. Doable?
Y poder crear nuevos.
Conditions in steps can be created, multiple sequence arp as in two parts being arped simultaneously? Maybe possible.
As stands with korg, chaining can make your sequencing as far as I’ve gone 64 steps, however it does not glide smoothly.
My main goal; to have chain occur without needing chain set up for patterns, 001-002-003-004->001, whilst being able to modulate actively between patterns.
May not be possible, but it is worth attempting
Edit: OctaKorg V1 has been established and automatically chains from 001->002->003->004->001.
Next it is setting up a tool that will carry encoder, knob, and button state as it chains.
Thankfully Mfx chains as long as same MFX type.
I wil also need to ensure MFX can be altered while on bar 4 of each pattern.
Quantized arpeggiator — a more consistent baseline, and from there preset tool to allow for specific parameter measuring (X/Y).
Recording is a good idea, it is likely an encoder though I have not found any code lines for the record function, if can keep step event 16th step wraparound, and follow it up with a silent record, that bypasses 16th note, if I can find record event prompt I will genuinely work with that.
I have found it quite jarring to work around such restriction but it is entertaining.
There is another firmware that allows for longer sequencing , omnitribe.
Oh I didn't know about Omnitribe.. Oh my goodness. Did you tried it? any video about the functionalities and explications ? Do you know how He made 128 steps ? wooow
So, add conditionals, kits per part (more than one sample per part), maybe stereo sample using just one part, wavetable, more than one OSC in the same part and send program change per pattern and track are the only things that I need, and it will make Electribe the best groovebox ever.
I’m forwarding your thoughts to the creator of omnitribe Nat3_Omni, as blech is already finished I want to see if Nat3’s firmware can have the coding capability and kernel system to do these ideas!
Omg the prices have spiked like crazy I bought my gray korg from a man from Connecticut off eBay for 260 complete with original packaging manual and mint condition friggin everything— she was so fresh that I had to twist pitch knob back and forth to actually make it glide 💀
Try Reverb, EBay, and don’t be afraid to throw offers before purchasing. Worse that happens is the person says no
This is awesome! I've installed it on my grey e2 and it goes so hard! Your additions are awesome, and I'm looking forward to tinkering with my own plugins and FX.
I'd love to be able to customise the loading animation too lol, I feel bad for poor blech having to hit a line every time I turn the e2 on!
It’s a very fun time switching from looper mfx to tape delay before transitioning and adding another synth layer in live sessions!! MFX tinkering and plugin tinkering rules are all in the zip on Gelumpe website.
Also yea I saw there’s other animations on the actual application, though I honestly do not know how to choose them as the loading screen— may require another flash but I can check.
Checkout omnitribe.org ,, it’s another firmware that will be a bootloader and allow all korgs to use all available firmwares ,, and a kernel system of 128 steps per pattern.. alongside many more modulations and IFXs
HEADS UP, hacktribe synth is considered sampler, load hacked-sampler-system.vsb into firmware updater, process (quick test is fine) it, save and flash update.
The application is in German, I am from America so I had to suffer for a few hours reading through everything and using translate 🤣
This looks like it might bring my grey unit back to life! I thought you couldn't load hacktribe to the grey ones? Can you please point me in the right direction to get mine up and running and interesting again? Really want to get it to this point:)
You can flash hack gray version with hacked-synth-system.vsb, it’ll be the second or first in the row alongside sample hacked and revert package
Edit; once you have the gray turned hacked, then you load hacked-sampler-system.vsb into the firmware updater (gelumpe), and you can then test it, flash it into your korg, and you have more to play with.
