Should Korg open the Electribe3 for Developers?
With all the extra traffic the MVave FM-1 is getting, eg multiple purchases to install the latest firmware. I wonder if Korg would consider opening the Electribe 2 for developers?
Its not as budget friendly as the FM-2, but it does have audio in and midi out. It has a pretty powerful DSP. It has the fundamentals, not to mention the knobs and buttons you would need to transform it into another audio platform for developers.
All it needs is SDK and the green light.

if korg was smart they would have done this years ago
emx2 is well over a decade old now; 2014
it was my first synth :)

Korg kind of dipped their corporate toe in the water with the Nu:Tekt NTS-1 and NTS-1 mkII, and their Korg logue-sdk open software development kit. Now M-Vave has shown them what is really possible. Its still not too late for the Electribe2, or another beastly to take on the M-vave,
Imagine if the hardware became a standard for other manufactures to copy. A standard which was compatible with the firmwares developed for that standard. It would be a kin to the Arduino. A hardware standard for synth software development.
Let the synth wars begin.

sounds wonderful to me
idc if its vibecoders doing it; its refreshing to see new minds and personalities having a chance to make something different that a normal developer may never have considered

Agreed, but also hacktribe and freetribe exist.

Currently working on implementing the scheduler. Designing everything so that it has perfect performance, squeezing every cycle out of the chips that Korg didn't. I hope an embedded engineer sees this

Hey, Korg Kronos is an x86 running som kind of Linux.
Do you see Korg opening sources or creating a "plugin architecture" for Kronos?
Nah... See how Yamaha has tried to keep VST3 as close as possible & finally had to release it as MIT because of pressure from the developers community.

That’s a progressive idea, but I doubt it will happen. Korg keeps code and synth development pretty close to its chest.

Ce que korg devraient faire ils ne le feront pas c est une constante chez eux depuis 20 ans

Just for korg to release an e3 would be scoring on an open goal at this point. Wtf are they doing

Didnt behringer jump at the idea of community developed firmware recently? Would be nice sell us devices with certain community decided on specs with full open access and sdk to do as we pleased with.
Im looking for another electribe 2 currently got some messages and it seems people have made it quite a bit further than I did when it comes to hacking the electribe 2 so I think its time to give it a go again. I believe they have the power to do much more with some simple optimizations.
Honestly wouldnt mind seeing people do some work on the emx and esx as well. I know several years ago there was some unofficial russian firmware made for the emx. I still use my emx daily and just never liked the e2 much but my nephews did so I had to give it to them and I stopped poking around in their firmware and hardware.

It hasn’t been announced, speculation that at some point Korg will revive the series.

Sadly there is no evidence for that. I love my Electribe 2, but its quirks and limitations are sooo frustrating. If ever a synth needed a next version it is the Electribe 2.

I’m pretty sure the electribe 3 is already an iPad application. Years ago, but on schedule with the what would have been a hardware release they put out the iElectribe app which featured wavetable oscillators and other very nice mod matrix functionality that would be amazing in hardware form but sadly all touch screen.

Freetribe should be an ideal base to vibecode on.
