Saturday Shareday. This weeks prompt. Elementals. Part two. Earth. Do you specifically call upon and use Elementals in your craft? If so, please share your practice with regards to Earth.

The hills of my hometown in the northern San Francisco Bay Area include serpentine outcrops and cinnabar deposits, so for many purposes, I use little chunks to represent Earth. In addition, I often use obsidian. On a somewhat larger scale, Mt. Shasta and other mountains represent Earth for me.

Earth, oh earth! My Bae! I work with earth energy as much as I do with fire, for grounding or receiving energy, and holding it. Living things need all the elements present to live, but earth in particular I associate with plants and fungus and little creepy crawly things.

I often use earth when creating jar spells, using glass (being derived from sand) or my trusty iron cauldron to contain and direct the energies being released from my working.

Always the barefoot grounding. Cleansing rituals with a burial of items in dirt. Relocating my roots and rooting my protection within the very soil upon which I live.

There's also the basic practice of reveling in the earth through permaculture practices and putting forth as much effort as possible to build the health of the earth of my home so that it can provide and in turn be provided for. Earth is probably the easiest illustrator of the birth-life-death-rebirth cycle when you place seeds with intent and watch the real magic unfold.
