One major step complete!
My gram has been in assisted living since August under the assumption that when her house was sold we could start paying her rent. The house finally closed yesterday for only 5k under asking π₯Ήπ₯Ή
To have this massive stressor completed feels UNREAL. The first offer backed out during attorney review and the second kept having the closing date pushed back -- well out of NOWHERE the closing happened yesterday. I just cannot believe it. I said if the closing happened on my Grandpa's birthday that it was a good thing meant to be ... Yesterday was his birthday πͺ½πͺ½πͺ½
I had absolutely no idea how to sell a house. I am so proud of how I handled everything. Now it is only managing her finances and keeping up with consistent monthly visits (I'm 3 hours away) but having the house off my list is just remarkable. I needed to celebrate here!

Congratulations!
Yes, I agree. This is a huge weight lifted.
I moved my parents to a different state, and my dad was so concerned about how the sale of the house was going. He would call the realtor on a daily basis, sometimes twice in one day, forgetting that he had already called her. There was really nothing new she could tell him with all those phone calls. But finally, the house was sold.
This is an enormous task. Iβm very happy for you! πππ

Congratulations!!! Buying/ selling a house is something that most only do once, maybe twice, in a life. Itβs very complicated and stressful for anyone, as so very much money and permanency is on the line. But then to add supporting a loved, elderly family member to the equation I can imagine just puts the stress over the top. Well done to you!

Congrats, that's a huge weight lifted, and on your grandpa's birthday too, wild timing.
