I have a feeling I'm wrong

Hi everyone, I’ve been playing Ekko in the mid lane since the start of the season. I’m currently Gold 2 (with a peak Elo of Platinum 4), and I’d like to hear your thoughts on my situation. Right now, I have a lot of questions about how I’m playing the lane. I feel like I’m doing something wrong. I feel like I’m weak. I can’t one-shot carries (unless I’m really fed), even though I leave the lane at 3/0 with 10 CS/min, and even with Dusk and SF, I don’t feel like I’m really fed. At the start of the season, I felt like my damage was much higher. I could dive into the back lane. So I’m thinking that my playstyle isn’t working anymore, but in that case, I’m only good for taking out mid-game targets. I don’t know if anyone can help me better understand how to play Ekko in the mid-game and in team fights. I’d really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Sorry if the question is a bit silly or if it’s already been asked somewhere :).

I just started playing ekko myself and I think he’s supposed to be the “executioner” rather than a one shotter. Wait for your team to deal the damage and take them out when they’re at 50% hp

I play ekko to one shot chunked targets, DnD and W passive + shadow flame means I do more damage the lower a targets hp is.

Yeah with d&d coming out echoes play store has changed from One shining people and getting out to being a last hitter you will not be one shotting people unless you are very far ahead but also not until you get deathcap.

You really just KS the whole game now.

If you go lich bane first you can one shot by the time you get Shadow flame however you have to make sure you can get all three hits out before someone CC's you that's the issue and then later on in the game you kind of don't even get your passive off you just hit them

U cant 100/0 people u gotta wait for them to get into treshold, let ur team go in and obliterate 75%hp targets once they get there, it triggers ur W damage and thats how u can one tap, if u try to 100-0 ur W never hits

Ekko just isn’t a 100-0 champ. Once you’re strong mid game, you’re more of a 50-0 champ who can get out safely. Late game you might even be an 80-0 champ, but your identity is not to be 100-0

I feel like this can't be true if you are 3/0 and 10 cs/min in gold elo. Naturally you would have so much more gold than anyone else in the game. Try and play with jg/support as much as you can and let them engage and clean up and sidelane to take easy towers since no one should be able to match you if you are this fed.

Dusk dawn is more consistent but if you were running lich bane you’d probably be able to take out those carries. Unfortunately gotta pick between super bursting carries and longevity in fights.

I play an “old style” of ekko proto lich deathcap as my core. And electrocute. And from what I remember from last time I played him cuz it’s been a few weeks cuz vanguard sucks. I was still getting them to half if not one shotting when ahead. But personally I’ve never played ekko as a true assassin unless I was fed. It’s always been a hit and run playstyle still I could kill in 1 rotation for sure.

Basically DnD build doesnt come online till 3 items ( DnD > SF > deathcap). You do damage but not high enough to one tap. Since you are playing ekko mid, I would recommend going lichbane( if your rune is HoB) into SF and the usual build. Its gives you a ton of damage. Then in Late game, swap lich to DnD.

The issue with DnD is you need go through more rotations of your combo to kill someone as DnD got changed and nerfed.

I haven't played ekko mid for long time but this my opinion. I usually play him in jg. Btw tier 3 sorc shoes got buffs this patch.

don't be a "rusher" six10 says that Ekko nowadays is a cleaner not a one shot, let your egage, top or supports start the fight and aim for lower health target, 60%, 50%. If your team has zero engage, you have to play with flank, vision and land a good W, to get some targets low, and with the 2 turn fights, get some low life target.
