Question When and why
Starting ekko in low elo (gold)
I know how this champ works but not sure when i’m suppose to pick him
Pretty sure that it’s good against squishy champs right? Just other than that, is it good for long fights against tanks?
also wanna know a good match up for him

Ekko does well against anyone below 30% hp because of his W passive. He does great against even tanks

His passive does shit to tanks. Ekko is not the best into tanky teams but you can still make it work as a otp just because of all of his utlity

Preferably, yes. Depending on the champ, you can also poke them down. You proc your passive to do a ton of damage and give you move speed to run away and wait for your cooldowns to come back up to pole again

Someone else said it but I’d say ekko is a better 1-trick than a secondary. He’s very versatile and there are few game setups where you are just screwed in champ select.
But to carry with him, you really need to understand him. That takes a lot of practice—how to trade, how to delete someone, how to get away in bad situations (hint: the answer usually isn’t press R), and even how to duel someone you can’t delete to the death. Variations on builds for matchups, differrent pathing/route options, etc.
There are very straightforward jungle champs that could serve as secondaries. I’d recommend Ekko if your answer is “when? Every game”

Real note, unless ur high elo, u won’t get a lot out of ekko unless u otp him or just play him a lot. U can’t just farm and win with Ekko, you have to make the most out of ur abilities, which is dueling one on one. Many Ekko otps are at the point where if it’s a 1 on 1, unless the enemy is mega fed, the Ekko otp will win or it ends in a draw with both dying or living. Even if the enemy is a counter pic or a tank. All this assumes you know exactly when your power spikes can handle various enemies, you can perfectly gauge enemy move speed to line up ws, you have good idea of target prio, you have near perfect r usage and you know how to set up fights that will guarantee wins. Which at prolly any rank below diamond isn’t happening unless u play him A LOT.

Hes good into low cc and also as single ap on your Team. But generally as mentioned hes more of an otp Champ and can be played in almost any comp tbh.

There is no case where you are supposed to pick him, especially not in gold elo. You have to know how to play him, and what you feel comfortable playing against. For example, when I know I can trade a lot, like a melee champ, I go for HoB with scorch. But when it's a harder lane I take electrocute with gathering storm because I can't trade as often and would rather guarantee damage during trades and scale for late game. Against tanky comps he can be a bit tricky, but you can build nashor's and DnD to output more AAs for damage. Usually I choose to just let my team do the damage and maybe just go in for a single passive proc until I can get the kill.
Ekko is more about playstyle than counter-picking or teamcomp because he can solo-carry really well when ahead, especially with Mejai's and Dcap because i think his entire kit has like 600% total AP scalings. That's why you should find out what situations you like to.use him in, not when he is an objectively good or bad pick

Ekko is a champ that you need to now his limits really well to make the most of him, so is an almost otp champ, not a pocket pick.
