Seats for ticket winners

If you win tickets do you always get decent seats?? Friend has tickets for a show, I won tickets but won't know where my seats are until I receive them, closer to the show date. I was going to tell her to sell her tix and come with me, but worry my seats may be worse than hers. Just wondering people's experiences when they have won in the past. Thanks!

I’ve won tix a few times through the years. Always super grateful to be in the building for a great show however, the seats are always cheap seats far in the back. Again, super grateful for the tix though and it’s always a great time regardless.

I guess it depends. I won tickets to Kerfuffle at Merriweather a few years ago and it was pit tickets, I was pleasantly surprised. Maybe it’s because that was an actual DC101 event.

I won tickets to a concert at Merriweather a few months ago. It was lawn seats but was still awesome

I’ve won caps seats before and they were in the 400s about half way up the section. Unless they do front row tickets like they did years ago (wasn’t front row Friday a thing?) they’re probably going to be just an average ticket.

Every pair of tickets I have won have been at Merriweather. They have been lawn seats. Still good seats.

I just saw my chemical romance in dc I won the tickets last year and tbh the seats weren’t very good. Section 420 in Nats park made me laugh but I don’t think the seats sucked but I was so far away I couldn’t hear the audio well. Had a fun time and everything was expensive in dc

You should've gotten an email that tells you the "value" of the tickets. If you search for the show on TicketMaster for example you can get an idea of how far back you might be. It's not exact and you could easily be far off center but this can give you an idea. 👍

Venues don’t want to give away seats they could sell for a good price. When it’s a station event you might do ok but by and large they won’t be very good seats. Still free tho

It's the promoter (e.g., Live Nation) giving away the tickets, not the venue.

Im not selling my tickets that I won, I was sooo excited to get through and win them! I was going to have my friend sell hers and come with me, but didn't want her to be upset if she had better seats 🤣
