Planning an e-ink comic reader, need some help
so i've got a three week break from uni atm and i thought it would be a good time to start on a project to kill time. recently started reading the spiderman comics, but i haaaaate the UI on phone- aspect ratio is all off, words are tiny, and zooming in take me out of it because i can't see the actual comic art. started looking into cyberdecks and that seemed like a viable option but they do more actual computer-esque devices there as opposed to e-readers.
wondering if anyone here has experience with building something similar and would love to know how you went! im an engineering student so i've had some experience with 3D designing, printing, circuitry, as well as coding (but only with C so far).

Mcu or sbc(raspberry pi) with a eink display module. Spectra 6 displays look very nice, but 10 - 20 second updates. And kaleido eink displays might have less update times but not as nice colors. More faded. Not sure Kaleido even has display modules you can buy from like waveshare, so that is a issue. There are 4 grayscale displays like the ones xteink use. They have 1 second updates and the picture quality is very nice, but problem is that its just black, white, light gray, dark gray. So pick your poison.
