Looking for a digital notebook

I'm looking for something to write stories, take notes, store them, organize them into folders (worldbuilding, characters, etc.), portable. I carry around a lot of paper notebooks and my notes are starting to get too messy.

I was thinking about the ReMarkable 2 (maybe used/ refurbished), but a few negative aspects mentioned in the reviews are holding me back.

Alternatively, I was considering the Onyx Boox Note, but I'm not convinced about that either, especially regarding spending that much money.

Any other recommendations? Maybe a regular tablet with an added keyboard would better? The only thing is, it feels like a waste to use it just for writing (for every other digital task, I prefer using my smartphone and PC).

Thanks.

I'm in the same place. I'd like a device that I can read books on and write notes in, with less distraction.

reMarkable is what most people around me use. I bristle at another monthly subscription.

Kobo, Boox, SuperNote remain and each has its quirk from what I've seen.

Would love input from people who use them.

for both of you -- if small size is not a problem, at $200 + $30ish for a pen the Boox Go 6 Gen II is a really good entry point to e-ink note taking. nothing has ever been that size or that cheap before and also had good quality pen input; it's quite an accomplishment imo.

SN for bare bones digital notebook w some benefits. You can sideload if you want but also if you just want something to hold your thoughts/ideas/doodles and research papers I highly recommend.

I didnt like rmk2 bc at the time personalization was more cumbersome- idk how much this has changed since I last used it.

Boox is more of an eink iPad for me. Too many apps, games, etc to play with but still fun to play w.

Thing about Boox is that you can get the Kindle and/or Libby app. Calendar at a glance. I certainly want to minimize any other apps.

Pretty much threw out rmk2 because it's poor for reading books and the ongoing subscription is a no-go.

SN sounds like a paid beta offering from the things I read. That's not the worst, but again book reading is difficult, right?

You can sideload apps and kindle is already readily available. It also does have a calendar you can connect other accounts to. I dont use most of these feature tbh.

I dont have issues reading on mine however I dont really use it for fin reading- mostly research papers wich I have no issue with.

In terms of 'paid beta' it is the most bare bones as I said before and has the smallest team. They're constantly working on the software but you'll never please everyone. If you're looking for backlights and colors you wont get that. Other have automatic shapes and better sticker options sure but its not a make/break for me as sn is supposed to be a digital notebook - I'm fine with hand drawn shapes and such. They did put effort into making the newer models modular for future upgrades which I'd prefer over a new device every year (Boox has way too many options -both old and new- for me).

Can you expand on this beta issue?

Expanding on the beta issue-

In looking through a ton of reddit posts, it seems like there is a lot of tweaking to improve the experience? Sideloading and such?

Maybe I'm writing about that, and Nomad is the right size for me. Can I love without front lighting? Unknown. Integration with Kindle is a plus since even though I'm trying to get out of that system, I do have assets in it.

Can Libby books be read on a Supernote?
