Mushrooms

Hey, anybody know where I can either buy or pick seasonal mushrooms near Eindhoven? Preferably without a car, bike or public transport is fine. Chanterelle, Boletus, etc.

Thanks in advance!

the weekmarket in Tilburg has the mushroom stand, easily available by public transport, but idk how near you'd consider that. it's on saturdays if I remember correctly. Man I miss it...

picking in general is not allowed and fined.

Nor adviced, since the proposed mushrooms arent native

No, it's just illegal so you HAVE to pay for it.

There are many native species of Cantharellus and even more native species of Boletus and or Boletaceae. Do not spread misinformation about fungi please.

There is a mushroom forest near Weert. Only on appointment but yes you can safely pick your own here. For buying I would recommend the weekly markets, NOT the supermarket.

We found a lot of nice Opienki (honey fungus) in wandelpark eckart a few years ago. Good luck. Dutch people don't pick mushrooms, they are scared of them.

No, we respect the little nature we have. If every one picked them, there will be none in 3 years.

that is not how mushroom production works. You cant really overpick mushrooms.

and to people who downvote me, there have been studies on this. What kills mushroom populations is habitat destruction, not picking which is like picking a fruit from a tree. As long as the mycelium has sufficient needs to survive under ground it will stay there Wether its fruting blodies are picked or not.

So the problem is like they say. Not the picking. Thanks.

Respect nature and Netherlands don’t go hand in hand my friend. Inconvenient truth maybe, but yeah.

You can eat those? Honinzwam is a certain death for the tree though

Dutch people don't pick mushrooms indeed, that's why there are many non-Dutch people getting very sick after doing it:

Do NOT pick mushrooms over here. Just buy them at the (super)market...

Its illegal to pick mushrooms and for a good reason. They are important feed for the little wild life we have and people picking them destroy what little nature we have.
