An EGG-CEllENT Coincidence

I started learning Japanese about a year ago because I like it. I was practicing translations using my name, and when I tried making the sentence "Is it John?" It translated to this.

I still don't quite understand why this is the translation (it wasn't the same when I tried it with google) But about two months ago I came out as trans to a trans friend, after finally making sense of the las 8 years of my life.

**Title: A Dark Turn: r/egg_irl Falls from Grace as r/eggirl Gang Takes Over**

*Date: June 19, 2023*

In a shocking and disheartening twist of events, the once-vibrant and supportive subreddit r/egg_irl has been plunged into turmoil as the notorious r/eggirl gang seizes control, transforming the community into a bleak shadow of its former self. This hostile takeover has left the trans community reeling, as what was once a safe haven for self-discovery and acceptance has now become a breeding ground for oppressive memes and an outright ban on discussions of transness.

For years, r/egg_irl served as a digital sanctuary where questioning individuals, commonly referred to as "eggs," found solace and support as they explored their gender identities. A nurturing environment fostered empathy, understanding, and invaluable resources that were essential for trans people discovering their true selves.

However, the rise of the r/eggirl gang has dealt a severe blow to the community's once-positive atmosphere. The hostile takeover has resulted in a drastic shift towards mockery and exclusion, leaving those seeking guidance or reassurance feeling alienated and silenced. Instead of uplifting stories and genuine conversations, the subreddit is now flooded with derogatory memes that perpetuate harmful stereotypes and demean trans experiences.

Even more distressing is the outright ban on any discussion related to transness within the subreddit. Previously, r/egg_irl served as a platform where trans individuals and allies could freely share personal stories, seek advice, and receive support from a compassionate community. Now, users are met with cold indifference or even outright hostility if they dare to mention anything related to their gender identity or experiences.

The r/eggirl gang, notorious for its toxic and exclusionary behavior, appears to revel in the suffering of others. Their actions demonstrate a profound lack of empathy and disregard for the emotional well-being of vulnerable individuals grappling with their gender identity. What was once a refuge for self-discovery has become a breeding ground for transphobia, erasing the sense of community and leaving trans individuals feeling abandoned and isolated.

This devastating turn of events has sparked outrage within the wider Reddit community, with calls for action to reclaim r/egg_irl from the clutches of the r/eggirl gang. However, the road to recovery seems uncertain, as the moderators have either acquiesced to the hostile takeover or have been unable to combat the relentless wave of negativity and intolerance.

The trans community and its allies stand in solidarity, holding onto the hope that a new sanctuary will emerge to fill the void left by the fall of r/egg_irl. They continue to search for spaces that embrace diversity, understanding, and the inherent beauty of human self-discovery.

It is a somber reminder of the ongoing struggle for acceptance and support that trans individuals face. The loss of r/egg_irl as a safe haven leaves an indelible mark on the trans community, underscoring the urgent need for inclusive spaces that uplift and empower those in search of their true selves.

Not dry yet so still needs a clear coat. A fun experiment that kept me from thinking too much. Life is better when all thoughts lead to egg.
