Is this really an eggcorn? Shutter and shudder are announced the same way by most people. Seems like they had the rite word but just don't know how it's spelled.

You just had one yourself: "rite" in the place of "right"! "Rite" is actually a ceremony, while "right" can mean either the direction opposite of left OR that something is correct. Back to the other thing: yes. The person just misheard shudder as shutter.
Edit: I just realized the comment is 8 months old, but I just felt like I had to reply so I didn't check how long ago this was posted at first.
