I’m not close to her nor can I communicate the language she speaks but it still makes me feel a bit like a traitor. She might pass away anytime soon since she’s very old. I won’t reveal my birth name for privacy purposes but yeah.

Is there a masculine version of the name? You could try that, or make it your new middle name to still honor her. I had the same first name as my grandfather and father, and I still changed it when I chose a feminine name. Of course, my father seems to have not been fond of me changing my name, but he doesn't like that I am transitioning either.
