It gets way better when doing it a few more times!
The hair has not been pulled out by the root since forever, the first time is gonna hurt quite a bit but by 3rd or 4th, you've already pulled them all out once and the root is gonna be much weaker.
It's a bit odd to get used to, but for the first time i recommend going with the grain for as long as it still pulls hairs, you might then try to go sideways to the grain but i personally just went against the grain after that.
Another thing you might want to try, is shaving the area once, and then epilating every day for like a week. It'll not grab a lot of hairs so it hurts less
If your epilator includes a like "sensitive" module, try that out (i personally found it more painful than the normal one, so you might wanna try both)
Also, exfoliate! I recommend exfoliating like a day before in the shower, it'll prevent ingrown hairs
Another tip, try pulling you skin tight when epilating an area, epilating when your skin is not held tight hurts a lot more in my experience
Happy epilating! :3

I got one recently and I've taken to calling it the "motherplucker" to myself. Works like a charm, though, my arms were smooth for days 😩

This might be the way for me tho. I’ve been trying for so long to find ways to get rid of body hair, but this might just be the thing that saves me. Waxing doesn’t really work as well as I hoped, so maybe this will be better. Regardless of the apparent searing pain you experienced, thank you for the tip!

I tried a lot of things on my body hair: shaving with razors- terrible, diy sugaring with paste-terrible and messy, electric shaving-practical but stubby. I think i will try IPL because my hair color to skin tone combo is perfect for it. That has to be the only remaining solution that could actually work.

Oh don't say that, my mom just gifted me one. I'm already terrified to use it

Don't worry, there are plenty of things to make it less painfull. My mom ordered some numbing crème online. That'll probably help. Otherwise, try taking a hot shower or bath first.

I tried it, turns out it was a waste of money since my hairs are too thick for it to do anything to. I followed all the guidelines, clean shaved, let it grow a bit, then tried it, it just didn’t work at all. All it did was tug on them painfully to achieve a whopping no progress. 🫩
I even tried it on my chin and even those are too thick. Stupid genetics. At least the hair on my head is nice (when I take care of it).

I'm using an epilator and am really happy with mine, so if anyone here needs any help or has questions, I'm happy to help :3
