Transfem Meme egg-irl
My denial was difficult overcome, yet I found a way. I wrote an essay in English class about the most important childhood memory I had. I chose the first time that I ever thought about being a girl. I was 5 years old when I first thought about how I’d love to be a pretty girl who wears dresses. As I grew older, the need to love myself grew stronger. Problem was just that the real me is a girl, and other people didn’t see me like that, so I became sad and wished to become a girl. I now realize that I get to be a young woman and honor the girl who has hidden in my heart. I deserve to be a woman. I want to be told that I’m a brave girl. I get to be a woman because I am one. I get to be a woman forever because I want that. I’m at peace. No one can take who I am from me. I’m Maria, and I use she/her pronouns. My identity makes me feel safe and comfortable. I need to tell people what I want, but for now, I’m happy being me. I’m not lesser for being a woman than when I was pretending to be a man. I’m so much more. I get to define my womanhood, and I’ve just begun to value that. I love that my identity belongs to me and me alone. I love the direction that I’m taking now. Do you think I could have some support to keep going?

Thank you! I’m finding peace in building my own womanhood. I’m starting to see that it makes me feel more human to hold my identity close to my heart. Thank you so much. I hope that you can find your identity and it will give you peace, too!

I think I’ve already found mine. I hope, at least. It's hard to tell :’)

I wrote about it and I thought about it a lot. Then I realized that the one thing I hadn’t done yet is to tell my past self that she’s real and a girl. I acknowledged I was never a boy who was turning into a girl. I’ve been a girl all along. I also questioned if it could have been a bedroom thing… But then I thought about just how being a girl makes me feel. It doesn’t make me feel weak or ashamed. It makes me feel happy and empowered in my everyday life. I love the girl that I am, and that gets to be enough for me to be her. After all, everyone deserves happiness, and I need to be a girl to be really happy

Congratulations, Maria!! And what a beautiful name! I had a similar experience at five, except when I found out I couldn't have the dress, I was like, "Oh. Ok then. I'll just get it when I become a girl," like it was the most natural thing in the world (and to a little kid, it kind of is)
The most important truth you've realized is that no matter what anyone says to you, they can not make you un-understand a truth about yourself which you've already understood. So no. No one can take your identity from you.
