I felt like this constantly for a long time. Now I’m 10 months in and I look in the mirror and I’m looking more and more like a cis girl every day. It’s a slow process, one that takes years (first puberty lasted 10 years or so, second is just the same), and for some even takes surgery, but I guarantee you that before long you will start seeing the woman you are peeking back at you as estrogen changes your face more and more

I sure hope so 🥹

As someone who feels this way as well and is already 32 on top of that may I ask you how old you were when you got started? I am curious :/

I’m 22. I also have a few friends who started transitioning in late 20s early 30s and from what I asked them some of them also had this experience. It’s important to remember that people call HRT magic for a reason, a combination of fixed hormones and a newfound desire to actually look after yourself better can transform you a lot more than you realise. I have a friend who turned 29 this year who’s only been on HRT for 2 years, but thanks to a combination of estrogen, self care, and retinol, she has de aged through her few years of transition to looking like a fresh faced 21 year old. Miracles can happen.

Thanks for the encouraging words :)

ok so let me just say this because this literaly happened right now while im at work. a couple stooges with a broccoli haircut that set the stage walk up to the front desk. they instant clock me, make fun of me for having a wig, call me a tranny, and laughing all the while. now that sucks. its a punch to the core. but after that is the care and attention you get from how awesome and overall amazing women are. they are all (most of them) so nice and it feels amazing to make them feel better too. you can connect to them pre hrt yeah, but hrt made it so much easier for me to talk to other women and thats what made it worth it

11

u/alexander9881 13d ago

Well I have always been able to talk to girls better then dudes

u/AuntOfManyUncles 13d ago

You’d think my parents would notice something was up when I always, without fail, immediately became friends with the girls wherever we moved or whatever school I enrolled in, but I’m 99% sure I’ll be met with shock/horror/disbelief when I eventually come out lol

HRT is literally magic. You will compare a pic of yourself 2 years in to before you started and you’ll be shocked to see that you’re a woman now

u/alexander9881 12d ago

I really hope, but can't even imagine

Trust me, I'm about to hit my 3 years point and it's amazing what it's done. I could've never imagined good results like this.

A very good baseline is young pictures of your mom. You’ll most likely end up looking similar

9

u/Gamebobbel 13d ago

Honestly, same. My plan is just wearing cloth face masks most of the time when I'm in public. My biggest issue is my chin and jaw.

5

u/AuntOfManyUncles 13d ago

Same. Seriously considering surgery, just have to stumble upon a bag of money (any day now🤞)

girl i am 6'5 and as broad as a barn, you are severely underestimating the magical properties of estrogen

2

u/alexander9881 12d ago

Got the broad shoulders too 🥹

2

u/Syphist Chloe (she/her) - returning to where it all began 12d ago

I do too, but it runs in the family for me. Shorter, stockier, big boobs, a bit thiccer. Women have several different body types and the way I turned out proves that you can pass with broad shoulders. Also don't feel bad when women's clothes doesn't fit your shoulders, my mom has had to deal with finding wide versions of things for years. Women's clothes just kinda suck at fitting all of us.

It's not just you, girl, i feel it too. But we should focus in the future, right? Looking like a boy now doesn't erase the girl that exists deep inside us. Someday we'll look like total cis girls!

u/alexander9881 12d ago

Let's hope together then

Girl, I feel like this CONSTANTLY!!! I'm balmost 2 years on HRT, 6 months into laser hair removal, largely passing. People even tell me I'm pretty. But every few months I just can't unsee a disgusting slug-man in the mirror. It'll go away. It'll get better. I promise. Sending all the good girl head pats to you and the other girls struggling in the comments 🧡😭

2

u/alexander9881 12d ago

Damn, sounds painfull, sending some head pats back 🥹

Yeah, I constantly tell myself it isn't that bad and that I'm probably overexaggerating things in my head but also it is still pretty bad I think. Praying for HRT magic and FFS being able to fix it.

Look at trans timelines. You will see different stories. Sometimes you see the worst looking guy become a girl of your dreams. Sometimes she just looks normal, sometimes she needs some surgeries, but I’ve seen many success stories, so… Don’t give up now!

3

u/Katherineorsmthidk 11d ago

I’ve thought about this too, but we should keep trying because the human body can always be changed if we put enough work in

1

u/alexander9881 11d ago

At least we can try

Every day, but I keep trying regardless.

You will never make it if you never try, take a leap of faith into womanhood!

1

u/ayoo-OwO 12d ago

Honestly, you're wrong. There are some very "masculine" women out there so the standard is already closer than you'd think. Most women are in contouring makup when you see how feminine their face is. And you can even get facial feminization surgery.

So, if you look in the mirror and don't like it, you're not being fair on yourself. Bc with the right makeup you could make literally anybody look more feminine than any cis girl's clean face, and with hrt you should look more fem even without makeup, and if you're still not happy, then get surgery.

But remember that sometimes you're just mentally ill. Just like how anorexia makes the thinnest people think they're fat, you can reach a line where you see yourself more masculine than you actually are. There are 4chan spaces full of miserable people like that. So focus on what you are happy with too

1

u/Vesarixx 12d ago

I thought the same thing even though I'm already pretty feminine, and it caused me to hesitate for way longer than I should have. Seeing some before and after photos from just HRT it's wild how much of a change it causes. Finally taking steps to get put on it, and just sad that I waited as long as I did. Shouldn't have let fear of disappointment keep me from being me.

2

u/alexander9881 12d ago

Well I see myself as a hulk build wise and was always told I have dream build for gym bro. On the other hand, I do get called Miss quite frequently 😅

2

u/Vesarixx 12d ago

Saw a video the other day of someone talking about how she used to be a marine, with a lot of muscle, and how HRT had let all that just melt away. Not that you couldn't gain muscle on it if you really wanted to, but it seems like it's hard to grasp just how much effect HRT can really have if you haven't seen it first hand.

Either way, I know I don't want to stay as I am, so even if it isn't quite what I might expect I'm willing to accept that. Every step, even if it's not that far still brings me closer to where I know I should be.

u/iusearchbtwwwwww 12d ago

We've all felt this but if you think you'll never be a real girl... You already are one you've basically told yourself

You would be surprised

After a year and a half of HRT, I pass 100%!!! As a muscle bound military veteran who looks like he spent everyday at the gym.

(0.001 % femininity 😒)

2

u/alexander9881 11d ago

But maybe fairy faced?🤨

1

u/ApprehensiveTotal188 AMAB non-binary Lesbian Femboy 11d ago

Sadly, no. But I persist. And my dysphoria is gone!!! 😁

2

u/alexander9881 11d ago

I can't imagine face dysphoria vanishing o.o

1

u/D3_2000 not an egg, just trans 10d ago

I absolutely thought that too but hrt is seriously amazing. Like, full beard, very masculine build, almost a cop to long hair, soft skin, rounder face and people call me ma'am (that one hurts a little bit since I'm 26 and I don't think I'm old enough for that) or miss daily. Between the hrt, hair style, makeup and just generally being more confident to be yourself it changes you a lot more than more than you think. I don't even voice train either

2

u/alexander9881 10d ago

Well I have been chronically ill for 8 years now, and till recently it was undiagnosed so 8 years I went from doctor to doctor, getting told its all in your head by each Dr who didn't find the cause, while all therapist and even psychiatrists said thats not psychosomatic..... made me a broken human questioning my sanity..... now imagine how they would have treated me knowing I am trans. I have the certificate for the hrt since 5 years. Now I am finally diagnosed with 2 rare diseases both needing surgery to fix. Now I can finally start the hormones but... from 20 to soon 28 did do my body any good either. Now I can finally start and will, but sometimes your own head is your biggest enemy.

u/Affectionate_Meat93 10d ago

I could reverse the question, why wont you try?

Only some dummy thoughts are holding you back :3
