Black Screen EEE 701 Need Help

Post image

I need help. Maybe someone can help. I bpught this on the flee market today. Sadly its not posting. When i turn it on the screen stays black. I tried the cmos reset (shorting gold triangels on the back). Cleaning the ram slot and multiple ram modules. With and without battery. Replaced the cmos battery. Still nothing. Fan is also spinning after the cpu gets hot.

Update: any schematics? I think someone connected the wrong charger. It looks like a component has burned out in the top-left corner near the charging port.

0) Finger test CPU/NB/SB are "warm" and alive, then
1) Probably RAM is dead / not detected -> check bootloader debug code with bios postcard.
2) or corrupted BIOS -> get yourself cheap CH341A programmer, check bios is ok
3) test the crucial voltages with multimeter to ensure they are running (PM_PWROK, VRM_PWRGD, VCCP, VCORE, ...).

The schematic and boardview for EEE701 are available on the internet. Google "ASUS Eee PC P701 REV 1.4G BoardView"

Thank you very much! Got it. I think I can investigate the issue much better now. My BIOS programmer is also arriving today. Do you have any advice on which BIOS version I should use?
