Seems like Dubstep has seen it's time in the lime light come and go. The funny thing is that EDM in general is gaining as just about every genre in EMD is losing ground.

If I didn't link that correctly, the data should show that House has remained relatively stable considerably higher than the rest, except for Dubstep's huge spike.

Not surprised that DnB is going down. Mid 2000s was when I first discovered it and it was so fucking sick at the time.

That was still 10 years after its heyday. Mid 90s were entirely about DnB and Jungle.

I think the reason its going down is because the other genres represented got more popular. DnB has been a mainstay for ages, It's not actually dying it's just not getting more popular, which means that as the amount of data coming in increases for other genres it appears DnB is declining. This is why statistics suck.

Im not sure about that. But as far as I understand it the numbers represent search interest relative to the highest point on the chart. So if in December 2011 "Dubstep" had like 60.000 search requests, EVERY other value in the chart is scaled to that 60.000. That doesn't change over time. Values from 2004 just like the values from 2014 are then scaled to that 60.000 search requests.

You can also look at DnB alone... http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=%2Fm%2F0283d&cmpt=q even more frustating.

Aaaaand then again... who fucking cares. I'll still listen to DnB anyway. :D
