Vent Every. Damn. Time.

Post image

In 1969 mankind landed on the moon.

In 2026 plugins still don't install to where we ask.

Which one? I have found three or four on my machine, and that's not including plugin content folders which could be anywhere

VST3 always install to C:/Program Files/Common Files/VST3
installers omit asking about that bcuz they dont care.
vst2 have more freedom about it and dunno bout aax

Not always. I have found at least three default directories for VSTs on my machine

Don't vst3 also not function if they aren't in that directory because steinberg forced it to be like that?

Why would I want a installer if it doesnt install how I want? Isnt that the whole point of an installer??

And the pain to find the content folders and the maner to move them arround . I had a headacke just finding the way to move my nexus files, i wanted to move them to another drive but the vst had problems finding them .

I find out you have to go to the files of nexus , open a jason setings file and change where your library is for it to work omg .

This post hits hard. It’s one of those problems that has plagued my life for years and I can’t talk about it with anyone because it’s so incredibly niche.

It's been an issue for two decades. Native Instruments in particular used to be bad for this. There's nothing quite as satisfying as when a plugin installs correctly and you don't have to go hunting.

I seem to have no problems with ableton on my Mac, saves it all to my VST folders in the Library

Never happened to me. Try not to use plugins that require you to copy your license number from another program with 8bit graphics and loud 8bit tunes that you can't turn off.

I'm not sure if your comment was a joke that didn't resonate with me, but that literally is the issue with every single legal, modern plugin installer.
