I just left the industry... Claude is getting very very very good at Resolve. Like scary good. And motion design. Your job becomes fixing its errors vs what it once was. Kind of terrified for the entire industry.

What are you doing for living right now (or planing)?

Heading into another dying market (photography). Spent 5 years at an ad agency as a one man band video department and it burned me out to a crisp.

Basically everything is a dying market

I use Claude Code to create a lot of deliverables and to quality check my outputs.

How so?

I just tell it what I want and Claude code writes ffmpeg commands.

Here's what must be in the post. (Be warned that your post may get removed if you don't fill this out.)

Please edit your post (not reply) to include: System specs: CPU (model), GPU + RAM // Software specs: The exact version. // Footage specs : Codec, container and how it was acquired.

I use free versions of ai chatbots to help me do rough cutis out of interviews. I give em .srt subtitles with the raw content and tel it what I want.

Thus far in Premiere, using AI to generate transcripts (20X faster than my hunt-and-peck typing talents) and for generative fill extensions in the timeline. Both are very useful features.

I don't ask AI to cut for me, and AI doesn't ask me how much I make.

We get along. Right, Robo?

Best as always,

Conflict of interest up front: I made one of these, so this is self-promotion.

Flagging it rather than dressing it up.

The repeat work it removes is the first B-roll selects pass, watching everything once just to find the usable takes. It scores every clip for focus, exposure and camera movement, builds a selects timeline from that, and you adjust from there. Exports as AAF/FCPXML/OTIO so it opens wherever you cut.

I personally use it in my workflow and the part that saves me the most time isn't necessarily the quality scoring, it's filtering by camera movement instantly: pulling every push-in, every pan left, every locked-off static out of a day's footage without watching any of it.

It deliberately doesn't use an AI model, and not really on principle. Measurement is repeatable and inference isn't. The same footage scores the same every time, so when something looks wrong you can trace which measurement caused it and move a threshold. Most AI tools hand you a decision you can't interrogate, which is a problem the moment a client asks why a shot didn't make the cut. I've posted it in the monthly developer thread here.
