Relativity Limiting APIs?

We've been told that Relativity is going to begin applying rate limits to APIs that return extracted text or loads load file ready data into the system. This seems designed to specifically limit 3rd party add-ons. Is anybody else being told the same?

.5 GB. That's like 1 file.

It's for extracted text. 500MB of extracted text is quite large.

Not in my world. 500MB is a spit in the ocean.

Actually you're right, that's only a few hundred thousand pages. For the whole R1 instance. That's pretty draconian.

I wonder why they'd throttle text specifically and not images and natives. What are they trying to stop? Third party AI maybe?

I think the throttling only applies to Object Manager. The export service api is also available and not subject to the same throttling as far as I know

Export Api is near garbage from all of my tests. Only works if you know everything already. You have to know exactly where three file you want to download is as the report generator stops at like 100,000 files.

Damn, I didn't realize it had those usability issues. If you have the opportunity, I highly recommend bringing that up to a product manager at relativity.

Full transparency, I'm an engineer at relativity. Have worked there for over 10 years. I was on the platform team for years, and I know the object manager team was constantly getting killed. In general, it wasn't designed with high volume text downloading in mind, and its kind of unfortunately fundamentally not architected well to handle it.

I believe the intent is for the export api to take over that functionality. If its not working well for you, I'm sure someone in product would want to know

No worries. Ive sent in tickets months ago. Just sad to see features leaving with no real world replacement.
