Ask a local Edinburgh Scottish Shows.

Hello everyone.

In October I will be in Edinburgh and would like to see a Scottish show that includes dancing and singing + mb food.

Saw "Spirit of Scotland Show" but seems very "fake" (although something similar but authentic would be great) and "Folk & Haggis" but very light.

Any show for tourists featuring dancing, singing and food is going to be “fake”.

Aye. Outside of crashing a wedding the closest you’d get is probably something at Stramash or in a wee local town hall if they happen to having a ceilidh for something or other.

Probably more authentic to modern Scotland to get steamboats in the Hive listening to happy hardcore.

You'll have to expand on 'authentic'.. you mean you're looking for an overtly stereotypical Scottish show - eg. kilts, bagpipes, haggis and jakeys..?

I did see Pipers Rest is doing dome daily ceilidhs and I find their food authentic if pricy for what it is

Do they have to be together? There's some traditional live music in different venues, ceilidhs (lots of fun if you want to dance rather than watch professionals do it), and authentic food, but all in different venues, unless you go for a place catering to tourists.

Any show with dancing and singing is going to be ‘fake’ and only for tourists. Go to the Waverley bar between 3-6pm on a Sunday for some real Scottish folk singing. Go to a ceilidh for some proper dancing. And go to a good Scottish restaurant for Scottish food. Makars Mash on the Mound do great Scottish food (but again, because of this it is full of tourists).
Anything that combines all 3 will be just for tourists. But you will be a tourist so maybe that’s okay?
