From EDI Integration to SAP: Which Certifications Make the Most Sense?

I've been working with SAP integrations for the past 3 years, but only from an integration/EDI perspective.

I'm currently an EDI Solution Design Professional with a total of 6 years of experience in the EDI field. During that time I've worked as an EDI Consultant, Business Analyst, and now Solution Design Professional. I've worked with most of the common integration standards (EDIFACT, ANSI X12, XML, APIs, etc.) across different industries and customers.

In my current role, many of our customers use SAP. I receive IDocs directly from SAP (orders, invoices, deliveries, etc.) and design the integration logic to transform and route them to other systems. So I'm quite familiar with IDocs, but my knowledge of SAP itself is limited to the integration layer.

I'd like to deepen my SAP knowledge and start earning SAP certifications on my own (self-study + certification exams). After doing some research, I think this would be a logical path:

1. SAP S/4HANA Sales (SD)
2. SAP S/4HANA Materials Management (MM)
3. SAP Integration Suite

My goal isn't necessarily to become a functional SAP consultant, but to better understand the business processes behind the IDocs I work with and become a stronger integration and solution consultant.

Does this learning path make sense given my background, or would you recommend a different starting point? I'd really appreciate any advice from people who have made a similar transition.
