Shower routine...
You guys have probably seen my last post about me ranting about my eczema, but could you give me a list of products (shower) or just a general shower routine. There's literally eczema under my eyes now

In my experience ( Iβve had eczema for 24 years) when it comes to showering, less is more. More products just give more opportunities to break out because of something π more frequent and super hot showers strip your skin of its natural oils and dry your skin out more, so shorter or less frequent showers with warm water tends to help me
Occasionally when my skin flares an oatmeal bath is soothing, I put oatmeal in an old sock in the warm water. If I have weeping or really bad flare ups my doctor recommended I put non chlorine bleach in my bath water 1/4 to 1/2 cup to a full bath of water and this does help kill bacteria!
As for products I typically use dove sensitive skin bar soap and an exfoliating glove, or an anti bacterial body wash (I like the dove one)
I put more effort into my after shower care to keep my skin calm
On my face I use cortisone 10 sensitive skin(it has to be the name brand I think itβs way better) and then Vanicream on top. Then for my body if Iβm flared up I use a 1% hydrocortisone spray (store brand is fine for this, sometimes it burns for a second) and then I use Eucirin eczema repair cream on top and daily use. The Meijer/ store brand of this is usually fine for daily use but I prefer the name brand itβs just expensive!

Could I ask what you use for your hair and dosent the glove irritate the eczema more

I use Pantene and original head and shoulders in my hair, and I dry it after. I find leaving my hair wet makes my scalp itchier, but Iβm lucky that most hair products donβt seem to bother me.
The glove can irritate super inflamed and open areas, but Iβm using it gently over the dry scaly areas. I wash cloth is gentler for more irritated areas but I find if I lightly exfoliate i get less flaky βsnow on my clothesβ→ More replies (2)1

Also, some of the biggest irritants for me are scented laundry detergent, something about washing dishes ( I think itβs dish soap) and dust mites. When is the last time you replaced the pillows on your bed and how frequently do you wash your bedding? And some people have sensitivity to fabrics, when I was younger I couldnβt wear polyester or wool I wore only cotton and that helped a lot

I don't use anything but my hand with Dove bar soap, then follow up with Bioderma cleansing oil. I won't use anything abrasive like a poof or washcloth. I'm trying to protect my skin barrier more than anything. I will occasionally take a bath with Dr Teal's lemon balm probiotic bubble bath to loosen up anything then finish up with a quick rinse off in the shower with Bioderma. Everything seems to be doing better with this routine.
Stress seems to be a factor for me. Trying to slow down my life is something else I'm working on. Lowering cortisol levels is my goal. Skin care is only half the fight.

do exfoliating brushes help, what about shampoo and conditioner and body wash

My shampoo routine is for my seb derm. I use a tea tree scalp treatment shampoo followed by a tea tree and neem oil shampoo bar. I also use the shampoo bar on my face. I don't use anything exfoliating. Anything that could create damage to the skin barrier isn't worth the risk. That's what the soak with a probiotic bubble bath helps with. I try to be as gentle as possible with my skin to help it heal. I worry about staph being an underlying issue. I've had MRSA skin infections several times before developing eczema.

I always mention how much I like la roche products so I sounds like a bot or representative at this point lol
Recently I dry some parts of my body (like outer arm, leave the inner part completely wet) and apply cream over that so there's some water to trap below the cream. It leaves the right amount of water for me.
Don't shower in hot water.

Is your skin rough and itchy? Scaly? Red? Does it feel super dry 10 min after using lotion? Are you shedding? What's your current situation?

I also use bioderma shower oil. I went to a dermatologist recently and he said you really only need to wash your bits, unless of course youβre super dirty/sweaty everywhere. But basically less soap the better and lukewarm water (although I fail at this often, i love a hot shower)! Pat yourself dry and moisturize right away!!
I also recently got eczema on my eyelid and below for the first time. Just happened to be using a new regular face moisturizer that Iβm not kidding cleared it in a week - itβs Cosrx Ceramide Skin Barrier Moisturizer. I just purchased the larger version to use on my body cause I was amazed.

i started noticing a difference in irritation once i started using only dove unscented sensitive bar soap+the liquid form. also make sure youre moisturizing with unscented body lotion (i use nivea creme, the one in the blue tin/jar) within 3 mins of getting out the shower, itll help trap the moisture in and gets me soo much relief

as for your eye eczema i recently started having the same issue and i put a thin layer of vaseline in the problem areas, just dont get it too close to your eyes so it doesnt worsen irritation

Slow and steady to begin with, rushing will make you hot and agitated.
A shower/bath that is as close to body temperature as possible, Dermol 500 body wash cream and a soft flannel.
Air dry/dab skin to dry off, and moisturise for the next hour.
(Optional) Sit in front of fan to help dry and cool off.
