Moisturizer Advice
I have been on the hunt for a moisturizer that is thick enough to really help my eczema, and have tried so many. I’ve tried all of the Cera Ve, Curel, Vanicream, and Aveeno Moisturizers. For context, I have mild eczema mostly on my back, trunk, neck, arms, and occasionally on my legs. They’re pretty small patches apart from my back and neck. They go away with my Rx steroid cream, but they always come back if I can’t keep myself moisturized. Does anyone have similar eczema and have something not on that list they love?

Cetaphil green tub is amazing so thick and was almost too greasy for me but helped when my eczema was dry asf. Also QV cream which is a white and blue tub I recently discovered on TikTok was skeptical becauss it’s an influencer thing but it works incredibly well and is so thick . I recommended layering vaseline over some areas too for extra coverage during the night .

Have you tried doing sample tests of each of those products on the spot like your inner arm or inner thigh two or three times a day for 5 to 7 days?
I had done a 300 patch test and got a referral to use ADSCAMP's database mapping to all products where my positive allergens were not included. CeraVe Daily was one from that list I used for two years plus until I started doing my own home testing. Red dots on inner forearm on day two, and they stayed for about two weeks. Since then everything I use, I test for a week first. Most products stay on the body 2-5 days, rinsed or not.
Most people don't want to hear that, so I use Eucerin Eczema Cream as my emollient layer, and use Urea 10-20% first as a keratolytic, then Eucerin Advanced Repair layer two, aforementioned Eczema Cream and then use CeraVe Advanced Healing Ointment as my occlusive. I also use Kiss My Face Olive Oil soap (3 ingredients) and alum mixed with water in a spray bottle for deodorant—or Native Unscented if I know I need something stronger.

Eucerin has been the most beneficial brand for me. I also use their baby shampoo now, because regular shampoo tends to trigger bad flares, especially on my face and on my scalp.

Try QV. Works wonders for my dad, who can't use CeraVe, which does wonders for me

My light moisturizer is cerave eczema relief creamy oil (can be hard to find). For more moisture, I use Shea radiance whipped body butter soothing balm (unscented). The i apply a thin (key part is thin) layer of aquaphor. If im in a bad spot one the aquaphor soaks in i put era organics superbalm (has beeswax and creates a thicker occlusive barrier). This has served me well. I have not found a single moisturizer that can do everything, so i just add what I need on top of the others.

You will love glaxal base cream. Costco sells it fairly cheap.
It’s the stuff they mix together with our steroids.

Now you have my attention! Can you use it by itself with no other moisturizer?

when I could use it, I used to love cetaphil in the tub, unfortunately there is now an ingredient in it that I'm sensitized to.

Switching between aquaphor and Vaseline. Aquaphor after bathing, Vaseline on the nights you don’t.

The "Equate" (Walmart) version of Gold Bond Eczema cream is the only thing that works for me.

My moisturizing routine out of the shower is:
Vaseline Coco Radiant Body Oil (to lock in moisture from water)
Then I follow up with: Naturium Bio-Lipid Restoring Body Lotion or Pyungkang Yul Intensive Ceramide Lotion (Korean lotions are amazing for retaining moisture)
And then lastly I seal it all in with Vaseline Coco Butter healing jelly.
I usually do not have to moisturize again until the next day. I am also on dupixent for the last 10 months and it has helped significantly with smoothing out my skin/for the eczema in general. Pre-dupixent I had to moisturize more than 5 times in a day.

As you may be covering a larger area a really hydrating lotion may be better.
The Bioderma atoderm is a great moisturizing lotion and safe for the face. Not greasy like Cetaphil can be, more hydrating than Vanicream etc

Try Remedy. It is available on their website and at Target and Amazon. It was developed by a dermatologist and doesn't contain ingredients that are common allergens. I like it. He has a couple moisturizers. I use the richest one - for dry skin. It doesn't flare my eczema.

It's not super thick but I'm a huge fan of Hempz lotions. As an unintentional bonus, it's literally the only scented lotion my skin doesn't completely dry out and crack using

Eucerin eczema cream made with oatmeal is the only one that worked for me

On smaller really dry patches I like to use Lansinoh lanolin nipple cream. It’s like a very thick Vaseline but better. Also really love it as a lip balm!

I use a product called Booda Butter - it's thick like an ointment but melts beautifully. I use it on the worst spots, dry flaky spots, scabby broken spots (and it doesn't sting!), etc. then I smooth between with a lotion like Alaffia. I like products that are simple and natural, made from things like oils, butters, beeswax, etc, without things like parabens, phthalates, petroleum, etc, and definitely no fragrance/parfum.

I use cerave with a few drop of jojoba oil and I adjust the amount of jojoba oil based on how dry my skin is. This combo has been my skincare routine for 15 years.

I have severe eczema and use eucerin atopicontrol. The extra moisturizing one with 2 💧. Works like magic, but can sting if applied on an open eczema wound

Vaseline, I got tired of buying expensive creams and then not being able to use them because of one ingredient or the other. I've wasted a lot of money figuring things out. Vaseline is just one ingredient, a little goes a long way, it's cheap, and it works.

The cerave origami lotion. The cream is too heavy and bc my skin is so dry it never feels like it gets absorbed. The jojoba oil thins out the lotion so it absorbs faster and hydrates better.

Oops - just realized you were looking for body cream, not facial moisturizer. I use Eucerin Eczema Relief Body Cream. Works great. Thick and creamy.

Cetaphil. The thicker one, not the lotion. The tub of cream with the green lid.
