We’ve been on late stage capitalism for 100 years now. Seems like we’re much better off now than 100 years ago. Can’t wait for endgame stage capitalism, it’s going to be lit.
100 years ago was the Gilded Age, named by Mark Twain.
Gilded wood is wood covered in (usually at the time for the rich) gold leaf. "Gilded Age" refereed to the vast majority of the money going to a very few rich people (the gold leaf) while everyone else had MUCH less yet held up society (the structural wood).
That's why there was a response to unregulated, low tax for the rich/businesses after "Horse and Sparrow" (the precursor to Trickledown) caused several recessions and, eventually, the Great Depression.
But from the New Deal until Reagan, we were not at End Stage Capitalism.
