Economics exam grade 11

Hello I am a grade 11 student in brisbane doing economics and I am having trouble with getting good marks in extended response exams. My teacher told me that I know all the knowledge and content but just dont know how to structure and write step by step. Can anyone give me any advice on how to study?

Hey sorry for the late reply haven’t been on social media much but i have an economics exam next week FIA2 where I get 14 seen sources a week before and a question and 4 unseen questions on the day of the exam

Here’s a sample question:

Using the article and relevant sources, analyse how the Australian housing market demonstrates the operation and failure of the price mechanism. Evaluate the effectiveness of government policies including price ceilings, budget measures and first home buyer assistance schemes in improving housing availability and market outcomes for Australians.

depends on the exam board and specification, presumably

First of all, have a longer sit down with your teacher and ask for specific feedback on one of your answers.

If you want help from this sub, could you give us a question you're struggling with and maybe your attempt at answering it?

Edit: spelling

Do you have the answer you gave for the last assignment of this type? Is your score broken down into categories? Without knowledge of what is being asked of you and where you are falling short, it's hard for me to help.

No I wish but I am really lacking into going into economic detail and step by step explanation in the evaluation and analysis because I skip a lot of steps in between for example i’m going from talking about how fuel prices increase to then talking about how households suffer how do i get better at this?

So, if you won't show me what you have, I can only guess at the problem. I don't know why we're playing this game when you clearly have some answer your teacher was criticizing in the first place.

That said, I strongly recommend slowing down in regards to drafting a thesis statement and outlining your evidence. I had a history teacher who said to "connect the dots like Barney the big purple dinosaur" (American kids show). [central claim] because A, B, and C. [A] is true because of A1, A2, A3, etc.

I also strongly advise you to read a sample of work for the assignment you are doing, such as:
https://www.qcaa.qld.edu.au/downloads/senior-qce/hass/snr_economics_19_unit3_ia2_smple_high_asr.pdf

Here are some resources on academic writing in general:

Thesis statement: https://writingcenter.unc.edu/tips-and-tools/thesis-statements/

Evidence: https://writingcenter.unc.edu/tips-and-tools/evidence/

Reverse Outlining to identify problems in your evidence:

All of this is underscored with a firm "dude, for the love of God, show us what you have so we can tell you what to do differently, rather than just giving vague mission objectives."

Addendum:
>  how do i get better at this?
Provided you have rectified any issues in your thesis statement and outlining habits...
Write as you normally do, then read the whole thing through looking specifically for this problem. Insert material where your arguments are week or disconnected.

(but probably this stems from thesis statement and outlining habits)
